"Experienced and patient math teacher and tutor"
I am a MA licensed middle school math teacher of 20+ years, and I have tutored countless math students from grades 7-12. I may be the most patient math teacher students will ever have, and I try to not just show math skills, but help students understand the language of math in general and algebra in particular. I have worked successfully with students of all abilities, and my students (and their parents) tell me they are so relieved to finally understand math and not be made to feel dumb or... ... More

Valerie was fabulous! She met with my daughter (16) for two plus hours on a writing project. She helped my daughter break out the story into sections and lay out the facts, etc. in an organized way. They then worked from the "inside out" I believe....and put together an incredible essay. She is actually teaching my daughter how to write essays! What a skill for her to learn before college. She was punctual and professional....and the classiest tutor I have ever met. We will us her often!

There is nothing more satisfying than to have a student achieve their academic and personal goals. In other words, becoming their personal and, ultimately, professional best.
My students achieve their a... ... More

I believe that each student comes to tutoring with a different set of needs and a unique learning style. During my first few sessions, my main job is to figure out what approach will work best.
I have been trained in the Orton-Gillingham reading approach and have experience using Wilson (both of these are similar phonetic programs). When working on writing, I pull together various resources tha... ... More
