Extremely helpful with explaining terms and concepts, very patient and encouraging. I would tutor with him again because I learned what I needed and was able to apply concepts, and learned test and studying skills.

Kateri has been working with my son to help improve his SAT reading scores as well as writing his college essay. She is intelligent, kind and patient. Her vocabulary is extensive and she never ceases to challenge my intelligent son. She has helped to improve his vocabulary and has encouraged him to write his rough draft of his college essay over the summer, which is not an easy task for most children that look to avoid summer "homework". She helps to push him to a higher intellect level. She is wonderful!

"Special Education Teacher and Master of Arts (English and Persian)"
I do not hold formal special education certification, but I have worked with students with mild-to-extreme learning disabilities. My work at a local charter public school required my commitment to learning about and engaging students with individualized education plans.
Working with a student with a short-term memory disability, I planned time and lessons for improving her note-taking habits, writing, presentation skills, and general organization, as well as advocating for herself and her special needs. Over time, we built a strong relationship focused on her academic and career goals, which ... More

Sophie and I have had two lessons thus far. I find that she is helping me enormously with thorough explanations for the grammatical points or word usage problems I have. (I think it is a great advantage that she is a French teacher -- thus able to give me hints as to how to remember something. She knows the sticky problems students of French have.)
Also -- each time I leave our session I want to study more -- following up and reinforcing what she has just taught me.
We've met in two places now -- and i like the fact that she is flexible with time and we can meet at places convenient to us both.
Without WyzAnt I would not have been able to find Sophie.
