I'm a homeschooling mother of four, two of whom are school aged. Margaret has been working mostly with my five-year-old while I work with his older brother. She has found creative ways to use the curricula that we have selected, which has helped to keep my very silly, daydreaming, chatty little boy engaged. For example, in his first tutoring session, Margaret had him stand facing her and pretend that they were both mirror images of each other while she demonstrated (in the air) the proper strokes for the letters of the alphabet. She has used mnemonic devices to help him learn to write his numbers correctly. This past week, she brought in two cookie sheets and some flour, and she and my son wrote their phonograms in the flour as he worked to master the sounds that each makes as well as how to write his letters and numbers. Overall, Margaret has been very patient and sweet, and is proving to be a great fit for my little boy. (She'll be working more with my older son in the upcoming weeks, and I'm looking forward to seeing how she gets him excited about his lessons.)

"Homeschool Mom With Strong Language Arts Background"
As a homeschooling Mom of 20 plus years, I have taught elementary science using a variety of curricula and supplemental resources, to children with different learning styles, strengths and weaknesses. I believe integrating other subjects where beneficial and using a hands-on approach wherever possible, bring relevance and greater interest to the student, engaging him/her in the learning process to a greater degree. ... "Effective Nursing tutor specializing in Test Prep/NCLEX & English"
My love of teaching comes from a life-long career of daily learning, while in the health care profession. While in RN school, I became a L.P.N./L.V.N, and when I passed my NCLEX-RN Exam the first time in 1993, a colleague asked me to take classes together that summer towards our B.S.N.s. I suffered from test anxiety, often entering a final exam with a A or B, only to "blank out" despite the fact that I knew the material well, but I agreed. Well, not only did I complete my B.S.N. while working... ... More

"Each day offers the opportunity to learn something new."
Each of us is brilliant in our own way, and it is this that I try to instill in my students as much as any content lesson. I graduated summa cum laude from Southern New Hampshire University in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, and a concentration in Literature. I then took courses toward certification as a reading specialist, and in August 2014, graduated with a Master's degree in curriculum and instruction. I hold dual certification in elementary education (K-8) and as a... ... More
