"French tutor available!"
I obtained my BA in language with a concentration in French from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. I am from Wakefield, New Hampshire and began learning French from an early age thanks to a wonderful school system. I'm an experienced tutor, and have completed coursework in teaching French grammar as well as an Independent Study, which included teaching a college-level intermediate French class. I have traveled to France a number of times most recently in October of 2010.

""Informal tutor" - I would like to make learning fun for you!"
I love to read! My mother was a librarian so I was raised with the expectation that books would be a big part of my life and I've seen the value of this reasoning over and over again. My current job as a coordinator of senior volunteers who help children with reading in area schools has only emphasized the problem of those lacking this skill.
My past experience has included tutoring an adult man using the phonics and comprehension method of the time and I was quite successful in enabling him to finally grasp how to put the sounds together in order for him to feel comfortable reading beyo ... More
"Algebra is Really Just a Fun Puzzle to Solve!"
I am currently a student at New Hampshire Technical Institute, hoping to be accepted into the radiation therapy program next fall. I have taken college algebra at NHTI with a grade of A, and am currently taking elementary functions (precalculus) and doing well with it as well as having fun with it. I have never tutored anyone in math, other than helping out classmates within the math classes I've taken at NHTI. However, I have a thirteen-year-old daughter whom I help occasionally. I'm sure s... ... More
Ms. J. is terrific! I went to her to learn Excel. This wasn't my first run at it, but this is the first time I was able to follow what we were doing. I'm technophobic and innumerate, and too often people attempting to teach me either move too fast or lose patience. Not so, Ms. J., a professional teacher who showed me why she's been in demand by some of the country's leading secondary schools. I'm a lawyer with degrees from four different universities, including Harvard, and I've encountered no better teaching.
Ms. J. quickly adjusted to my pace, answered my questions without wincing, and we made enough progress in one session to make me eager for more. She's also pleasant company. After I knock off Excel, under her tutelage, I may even ask her to teach me physics, a subject I avoided like a social disease, all through school. Who knows--I may yet get a Nobel.

"Physics Made Phun!"
Through my role as science researcher (astrophysics) and high school physics teacher, I have become very adept at Microsoft Office programs. In particular, Excel is an area of particular strength. Whether it is graphing in excel, using formulas, or conditional formatting knowing how to set up effective spreadsheets can be key in so many areas of business and academics.
I have over 20 years of teaching experience behind me and would be happy to make you an Excel "God" or "Goddess." ... More
""Enough to be Dangerous" Graphics and Print Specialist"
I have been in the printing and publishing business for most of my adult life. I have taught adults in a public college classroom setting as well as private training sessions for business. I know Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher). I do not claim to be an absolute expert in any of the aforementioned software applications, but if you want to learn the basic foundational techniques to help you get off... ... More
"Engineering Student and Mathematics Tutor"
My name is Katie and I'm currently a sophomore at Tufts University studying civil engineering and architectural studies. I volunteer at Tufts as a math tutor, tutoring anything from basic algebra and geometry, through multivariable calculus. I would also love to teach SAT prep. I performed in the 99th percentile on the PSATs (later becoming a National Merit Scholar) and received a 2200 on the SATs. I graduated as the valedictorian of my class, and have always believed that hard work ... ... More
