I recently decided that I wanted to go back to school to allow me to broaden my future job opportunities. I am originally from Russia and have been in the United States for about fourteen years. While able to carry on an English conversation, when it comes to reading and writing, my skills are somewhat limited. I knew I needed to look for help.
After doing some internet searches, I came across WyzAnt. I spent some time reviewing the profiles of the English tutors in my area and decided to email three of them to see if any might be an appropriate fit. After careful consideration, I decided on Christy and couldn’t be more pleased. Christy’s prompt and professional response, especially the fact that she took the time to carefully read the finer points in my rather long email, sealed the deal for me.
During our initial consultation, Christy took extensive notes and listened intently to me as I explained exactly what I was looking to accomplish. When I finished, we together worked on a plan of attack. Improving my reading comprehension and speed, along with developing the proper mechanics in my writing were put on top of the list. Also, knowing that I will likely be required to take some form of admissions exam or standardized test in the near future, we have been working on my vocabulary, including roots, prefixes and suffixes.
Christy and I have been meeting once a week for ninety minutes since May. She provides me with homework each week, which we go over at the start of our next session before moving on to new material. That review at the beginning of our lesson has also helped to improve my conversational English.
Christy is always well prepared and punctual for our lessons. Any necessary communications between lessons have been easily accomplished through email, cell phone and text. Christy is not only knowledgeable and professional in what she does she is also a very compassionate person who is supportive and wants to see me achieve my goals.
I highly recommend Christy.
