"Effective English, ESL/ESOL, and TOEFL Tutor"

The area of tutoring English as a second language (ESL) involves teaching and aiding the student in all aspects of the English language, including reading, writing, and conversational use. An ESL student's primary native language is one other than English and usually seeks additional tutelage to further understand other material that utilizes the English language. Depending on what each student's native language is, tutoring ESL may have varied paces. Students whose native tongue is a romance language will often have the easiest time in picking up English due to the languages' similarities, wh ... More

William was just the tutor I was looking for. He has a high level of expertise in Excel. Equally important, he was willing to focus tutoring sessions on my interests/work so the topics we covered are skills I'll be able to use right away -- making good use of my time. He was also willing to answer more general tech questions and gave me a few easy solutions for a few small problems I was having with other Microsoft applications.

"Excel At It! Learn advanced features of MS Excel (Certified Expert)"

I believe in Microsoft Excel as a powerful productivity tool. Its versatility allows for unlimited possibilities. Even as a certified Microsoft Excel expert, I still have an insatiable desire to continuously learn more about this magnificent piece of software. Throughout my career, I've used Excel to complete many projects for corporations such as Credit Suisse, Bear Stearns, JP Morgan, Coach Inc, and Michael Kors (USA), Hudson's Bay Company, and Hachette Book Group. Each of my students wi... ... More

"Globetrotting Tutor with a Passion for ELA and Math"

Watching my students grow to love learning as their understanding and ability unfolds is for me the most rewarding aspect of private tutoring. I find that being able to develop a personal connection while providing individual attention makes for the most meaningful—and effective—learning experiences. My practical experience in education began several years ago while volunteering through Americorps, where I led a team of tutors at P.S. 206/112. Soon after, I moved to Bangkok to teach En... ... "Inspirational and Friendly Math, Science, and English Tutor"

As a tutor, our job is normally secondary to the teacher's. The teacher's job is to cover a certain amount of material in a given amount of time, making sure all students do their best. The tutor's job is to go over this material with usually just one student and further elaborate on this material. Sometimes, tutors realize that a particular student may be incredibly intelligent but may not organize notes well or know exactly what to material to focus on. That is where tutors can teach study skills. Study skills may include knowing how to read and outline technical textbooks or speed study Pow ... More

I can't say enough about John. He's just remarkable. He's pulled our son's grades up, our son really likes him (very important) and he even gave me a session so i could understand what my son is doing enough to help him, too.

During high school for approximately 2 years, I had been tutoring as a volunteer for grades 1-5 in math, science and English in a Hartford, Connecticut public elementary school.
