"Patient, dedicated guidance in writing"
A writer and full-time college writing instructor, I have worked at a large university for the past seven years. My classrooms are college freshmen across all disciplines, and I guide these students in learning to write rhetorically; that is, I help them adapt their writing projects to a purpose, audience, and context. Over the years, I have also worked with students in the university's writing center, and thoroughly enjoy the dynamic of one-on-one instruction and dialogue.

Stephen P. helps me understand concepts on a deeper level than simple memorization. He makes me really learn to understand the information and connect it to previous things I've learned. He's taught me the bigger picture of physiology and he applies each individual concept to a bigger understanding of WHY something would happen how it does rather than just teaching me that something happens. This lesson, he talked me through a multitude of practice questions that he prepared and we discussed each answer in depth together. Then at the end of the lesson, he let me take the questions home in order to use them as yet another study tool for the test. He is a great tutor and has helped me raise my grade in my physiology class from a 61% (on the first test) to an 88% on the second, and I know I'll do even better on the third test and the final because I truly understand the inner-workings of the material now.
I would recommend Stephen P. to anyone even remotely struggling in anatomy & physiology.

Peter tutored my son as he was preparing to take college entrance exams. My son has a tendency to clam up when taking these tests. Peter was very patient and taught him test taking techniques that will follow him through his college years as well. Not only did Peter tutor, but he mentored him as well. Peter is very accessible and provides excellent feedback in the appropriate time frame. My son has really enjoyed working with him and I will keep him in mind for future tutorial needs!

"Caring Tutor for ESL, French and Writing"
I majored in French at the University of Pennsylvania and I hold an MA in Second Language Teaching from the Universite de Montreal in Quebec. My husband is originally from France so we use it at home. Having learned it over a period of years through my own efforts (as an English speaker from Philadelphia), I really understand the challenges of learning a language. In this way I can provide high-quality assistance to students who just need a brush up or to those who are in trouble or who feel they have little facility for languages. ... More

"Seasoned tutor for Spanish, English, ESL (TOEFL), SAT Test Prep Skills"
Students do not always know what they can accomplish. With an empathetic teacher, they can come to realize that learning is one of life's greatest joys. I know because I was referred to as a "slow learner" in grade school. Flash forward and I hold a Ph.D. in Spanish and Latin American literature from New York University. What changed? Research indicating that intelligence is not fixed at birth. For those of us who were told we would never amount to much academically, what could be bette... ... More
