Being an excellent sight-singer is essential and a required tool in the music world today. I have been away from a classroom situation for over 13 years. I wanted to become more proficient with my sight-singing. Having this skill will enable me to be more of an asset rather than a liability in choral situations. So, I searched and found Jody through Wyzant. Jody makes it fun, yet a challenging experience. Jody is extremely patient! Jody has worked extra hard with me utilizing various techniques to get me to understand the concepts of sight-singing. It is never stagnant or by rote; Jody really keeps it interesting. In short, Jody is an awesome teacher.

"Let's Make Music!"
As a candidate for the Master of Music degree at Temple University I was offered a full teaching assistantship by the Aural Theory department, meaning my tuition was free plus I was paid a stipend. My responsibility was to teach the Friday labs and offer individual tutoring sessions for any students who requested help. My work covered all four of the ear training course levels, and dealt with Solfeggio using the system of "moveable DO", applying that system to the singing of melody lines, bass lines, and arpeggiating Roman Numeral chord progressions, first in one key and then with modulations ... Stephen P. helps me understand concepts on a deeper level than simple memorization. He makes me really learn to understand the information and connect it to previous things I've learned. He's taught me the bigger picture of physiology and he applies each individual concept to a bigger understanding of WHY something would happen how it does rather than just teaching me that something happens. This lesson, he talked me through a multitude of practice questions that he prepared and we discussed each answer in depth together. Then at the end of the lesson, he let me take the questions home in order to use them as yet another study tool for the test. He is a great tutor and has helped me raise my grade in my physiology class from a 61% (on the first test) to an 88% on the second, and I know I'll do even better on the third test and the final because I truly understand the inner-workings of the material now.
I would recommend Stephen P. to anyone even remotely struggling in anatomy & physiology.

Peter tutored my son as he was preparing to take college entrance exams. My son has a tendency to clam up when taking these tests. Peter was very patient and taught him test taking techniques that will follow him through his college years as well. Not only did Peter tutor, but he mentored him as well. Peter is very accessible and provides excellent feedback in the appropriate time frame. My son has really enjoyed working with him and I will keep him in mind for future tutorial needs!

"This Italian Tutor creates a piece of Italy through conversation!"
For thirty years I've had the pleasure teaching the Italian language to a wide range of students. Being a native Italian gives my students the opportunity to hear and repeat back with perfection this beautiful language. I am most capable of immersing my students in both pedagogy and andragogy of the language with an intellectual curiosity that builds upon successes and rekindles their passion to achieve literacy. The spoken content of a language is roughly 7 percent; my students hear, unde... ... More
