"The common sense of math"

When I was an engineer I always find ways to break down a complex problem into several manageable portions in order to find the best solution for that situation. This is common sense and I use the same approach as well when tutoring math. Students need to learn how to approach and manage problems. I am very patient and always insist that student must acquire strong fundamentals. The 'how' comes second after 'why'. I am also in the opinion that learning math is similar to learning any musical ... ... More

Mr. Mike was very prompt on his arrival and eager to get started with my son. He was a perfect fit for my 7th grader because he actually teaches at a private school, 7th and 8th grade Pre-Algebra class. I loved his enthusiasm and patient approach whenever my son wasn't sure of an answer. The best thing yet was how much praise and encouragement he gave throughout the lesson. We look forward to seeing him again and again as needed.

Our son's pre-calc final was today, so last night was Barry's last session with him. Mike felt very confident going into the the test and came home feeling good about it, too. We have been so pleased with how Barry worked with Mike and how he respected and admired Mike's abilities. He took time to get to know Mike's interests and future plans so he could both encourage Mike and give him pointers for achieving his goals. We would highly recommend Barry F. for other students who need help. All that and he's a very nice man, too!
