Mrs. Helen was actually a very great tutor. But if you are searching for a tutor to help you completely on the ACT, meaning learning what to look for, or just needing help on the ACT drastically, I would not recommend her. Mrs. Helen is for individuals who know what they are doing on that ACT, knows how to take the ACT and just need a little bit more help with little strategies, or performance skills. If you don't know nothing in Literature grammar, she really will not spend much time with you. And that was the hardest things. She will say this is a Reflexive Pronoun or this is an Independent clause, rather than reviewing with you what these grammar rules are. That's what I found to be most challenging. If you don't know anything, she is not your desired tutor. And it seems like she's all about her money also. She is $39.00 and hour so use your time wisely. I told her that she becoming a little bit to much to pay for, and I insisted we do just 3 hours. But she was just so rude about it and said I should study on my own then! She didn't even understand were I was coming from. It was so rude!! But if you think she's the one make sure you really review her!! Just some heads up.

We got down to business immediately. It turns out that Lisa teaches Time Management (in which I need much improvement) as part of her job. I feel like I’ve won the jackpot! She’s very clear when explaining how to do something, then states what the benefits are in using it, i.e. using color in Outlook Calendar, I can see in an instant what’s on the schedule for the day. At the end of the session, we set specific goals for the next week or two, things she had gone over during the session. When she saw the pictures of my desk, she knew right away where some of my struggles (with time mgmt) occur.

"Available to tutor your Software, Math, English and Reading"
Reading is my hobby and any free time I have is spent reading. I probably read one novel a week, in addition to working full time, tutoring part-time and taking care of a family.
Reading was always my favorite subject in school and college and I have always made A's. In my current position, I help others proofread their material and write procedures for easier reading and understanding for our employees. My 12 year old daughter is an excellent reader and my 8 year old son is following. ... More

I have taken multiple classes at Miami University for reading. I have also worked alongside a reading specialist during my student teaching experience. I have gained tons of insight on the need for important reading instruction as well as multiple reading strategies I could use to solve tricky words, get to know characters in my tutee's books, and recognizing authors as mentors (a component of both writing and reading). I am aware of a lot of the curriculum taught for elementary grades in terms of reading and can adjust and conform to any type of reading program! ... More
