I have been engaged in education for over twenty-five years. I hold a Ph. D. in English, philosophy and religious studies and a D. Min. with specialization in theology and social ethics. My degrees, including a B. A. and M.A., qualify me to teach in just about all areas of the humanities.
Holding an Indiana Life Teaching License, I taught in Indiana high schools eight years before completing doctoral work and teaching in higher education.

Jose is very flexible and we will talk (in Spanish) about everything. I'm a visual learner so I show him photos of my travels and tell the stories about my adventures and he does the same. It's a great personal way to develop conversational skills in Spanish.

"Spanish and ESL Instructor. Bringing confidence to students!"
I currently teach Jewish studies and Philosophy to high school students at one of Indy's synagogue. I have taught English of all levels in Dominican Republic, Budapest, Hungary and throughout Israel. That being said, I have gained a significant amount of insight into the linguistic difficulties that students of different language backgrounds encounter. Then, of course, each individual student has strengths and weaknesses. I believe that as a instructor it is important to come into a teaching... ... More
She prepared for the lesson very carefully every time. And she is very patient. The homework was reviewed carefully. Although she is very young, she really knew how to deal with kids.

Rob is very laid back, and makes learning statistics fun. He was very patient as well as helpful in terms of teaching and identifying what I needed. My situation is college level beginning stats, but as a mother of three teenagers, he would have the demeanor and knowledge to help them as well.

"Business, Health Care and Engineering Statistics"
Find statistics challenging? I get it. To begin with, it's math (which is enough for many people). But beyond that, it is very different from previous math classes (like algebra, geometry, and pre-calculus).
That said, I enjoy working with students as an instructor and as a tutor. I hold a Masters in Applied Statistics and have used these methods throughout my career. I have also worked as an adjunct professor teaching Algebra II and Statistics in the classroom. I am very comfort... ... More

Joe has been very helpful to my son during the time that he has been tutoring him for math. Previously, my son had no interest in math at all. Joe has been patient and has tried different avenues of attracting my son's interest. He also sends him additional math problems via email free of charge to give my son some extra practice. He goes over these problems at the next session and they are able to discuss what was right or what was wrong. My son actually looks forward to the tutoring session each week!! I can recommend Joe to other parents out there who are looking for a tutor is all about helping your child succeed!

"Learn Calculus from an Actuary!"
Put at its simplest, Calculus deals with rate of change and area under a curve. In particular, differential calculus addresses rate of change in the determination of critical points of functions, maximum and minimum points, inflection points, related rate problems, optimization problems, slopes of functions at specific points and many, many other things. Integral Calculus focuses on issues relating to area under a curve. In a sense it is differential Calculus going backwards. Determining area, volume, cost/revenue/profit, and many other things utilize this form of Calculus. If you need so ... More
