"Masters level, K-8 Special Education Teacher"
I have been teaching elementary special education, in a public school setting, since 1988. Currently, I teach at a small, rural elementary and middle school, where I work with K-8th grade special education students and 2-3rd grade Title I students. Using the WyzAnt Tutoring system seems like a wonderful opportunity to widen the area that I serve.
I specialize in teaching students to read (this is also my passion). I begin each of my students by administering a thorough assessment of the... ... More
"Friendly, intelligent, and flexible tutor"
I graduated summa cum laude from Hillsdale College in 2014. Hillsdale is a liberal arts college, and I have taken upper level courses in Latin, Art, Physics, and Economics. I have also taken college Calculus and Greek courses. While at college I volunteered at a local school and designed and taught a Latin class for third and fourth graders. I have also tutored local high schoolers for the SAT and Compass tests. I have taken and scored highly on the ACT, SAT, PSAT, Clep, GRE, and LSAT.

We hired Adam to tutor our homeschooled fifth-grader in elementary science, and we couldn't be more pleased. In considering a tutor, I was particularly interested in a course of study that would emphasize science as a way of thinking about the world, as well as a collection of facts and theories. I also wanted someone who could make science fun and engage my son's natural curiosity. It was clear from our first introductory meeting/mini-session that Adam was perfect for the job. He engaged my son in a fascinating conversation about animals and adaptation, which led to some provocative questions about zoology and environment. He is very knowledgeable, but also completely accessible in his teaching methods. My son looks forward to his lessons, and often talks about the topics long after the lesson is over. As a trained educator, Adam is also mindful of the standards and expectations for each grade level--he is helping my son integrate technology into his work, for example, in ways that will prepare him well for re-integration into the school system in the future. All in all, we are very lucky to have found Adam. I recommend him with the greatest enthusiasm.
