I am currently a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison majoring in Art History, Classical Humanities, and Microbiology. I am extremely passionate about my studies and seek to instill a similar level of excitement in those I teach. Having studied the classics for nine years now, I am particularly enthusiastic about teaching Latin and Ancient Greek.
I will be patient with the students so as to ensure that all of their individual needs and overall goals are met.... ... More
Very thorough and consistently completed what needed to be accomplished. Such a pleasure to work with, but the best part was the success we saw with our child. Built confidence and now doesn't dislike and of her subjects. Thank you.

I use very targeted instruction with my students. Using a full diagnostic ACT test, we carefully select specific content to master. If we need to refresh plane geometry, but algebra is relatively strong, we really hone in on the geometry, especially because we know that there will be 14 questions out of 60 on plane geometry on the test!
We also discuss testing strategies. The ACT test is one of the most consistent tests ever designed, and understanding how the test is constructed and how to "read between the lines" can be quite valuable, especially if your student is not a good test taker.

I am a former high school English teacher missing teaching. Eight years ago I became disabled and had to quit teaching, but I miss it terribly. While I still cannot teach full time, I have gotten to the point where I can tutor, especially since I do better later in the day but still cannot work even a solid part time. Tutoring a couple hours a few nights a week is the perfect way to fulfill my love of teaching and working with students.

I highly recommend Michelle. She is first and foremost a great listener! Her approach is such that she is genuinely interested in the real world application of how I specifically foresee using the Photoshop software. Michelle has a knack for explaining things in lay terms and I liked the way she paused and helped think through ideas and problems, and walked me through the solution. We used my real project scenarios as an introduction to the basic tools and functions of the software. Interactive from the get-go as I used my laptop, went through all of the key strokes, etc., to complete the tasks. Looking forward to my next session.
