I have been a salaried editor and writer for two small newspapers. Grammar and punctuation were essential components of that work. Although I had a reasonable knowledge of both aspects of our written language, with just a little more advice from some folks who knew this business cold, I have been comfortable expressing myself personally and professionally in writing for several decades.
