Malea worked with our 12/13yr old son who had serious reading issues including problems with phonics. We had tried everything before finding her and what a difference her tutoring has made! Our son was challenged sounding out words, and at his advanced age, finding a phonics program that wasn't just for younger kids was impossible. Malea was able to develop a program as time progressed based on his specific problem areas she identified each lesson. She used a wide range of resources she knew about and searched diligently for new resources to help him. Not only did his phonics improve, his reading out loud skills improved and he grew more and more confident each week. Other areas she helped him with were reading comprehension, test taking skills, and organizational skills. After every lesson she gave us excellent feedback and tips that we could try to help him between lessons. Malea's care for her students is very apparent and it pays off each and every lesson.

"Academic coach and tutor providing targeted, individualized mentoring"
I recently tutored one student through high school biology, and another through middle school biology. Both did very well, bringing their grades up from C/D level at the beginning of the year to an A and a B by the end of the year. I also worked in a busy hospital for 7 1/2 years, during which time I gained a deeper understanding for biological processes related to anatomy and physiology. I am a bit of a science junkie and just love biology in general. ... More

"Proficient in all Math and Science Subjects"
Hello and thank you for considering me for your tutoring needs! I have been a student of math and physical sciences for many years but having the knowledge is not what sets me apart from other tutors or teachers. My strength is communicating with students and understanding how they learn and retain educational material. Some students are visual learners whereas some students prefer to read and recite. The key to tutoring is finding out how a student prefers to learn. Once that is accomplishe... ... More

I want to become a teacher for three reasons. The first is, I love children of all ages and want to help them in any way that I can. The second is, I want to influence children in a positive way and help them be all they can be, much like some of my teachers made me. Finally, I enjoy the feeling that I receive when a child's face lights up, because they understand something that I am explaining to them. That feeling is enough to make me teach, regardless of the paycheck.

"Passionate & Patient English Tutor Specializing in Reading Skills"
I love language and history. Therefore, I pursued my BA in English/History & Theology at a small, intimate college on Long Island. While a student at this college and for a year after graduating Magna Cum Laude, I had a wonderful opportunity to work with a diverse population of students writing papers as well as helping them prepare oral presentations.
Then too, working at Molloy College I worked with a wide range of the Hispanic population in the evening helping them become proficient in E... ... More
