As a tenured ESL teacher in the LA Unified School District, the teaching of grammar is a required aspect of the state mandated curriculum. A student's grammar errors are individual, not every student makes the same grammar errors. For that reason I believe a student learns grammar best when working one on one with a teacher rather than through a group lesson.
