"American Sign Language"
American Sign Language is primarily used to communicate with deaf and hard of hearing individuals. American Sign Language, or ASL, is not a visual representation of English. It has its own Linguistic regulations including but limited to Grammar, Syntax, and parts of speech.
ASL is mainly comprised of manual signs, facial expressions, body movements, spatial reference, and finger spelling.
Two other common forms of sign language are Pigeon Signed English and Signed Exact English. These are not languages in and of themselves, but rather are signed forms of English.
