Thankfully Jim S. sent me his profile for the tutor posting I did for my daughter in Physics. Jim has come now for 2 lessons and the light went off in my daughters head. She thoroughly understands and is very confident she can get a good grade on her next test. He clearly knows his stuff and is well if not more than worth his fees.
We will continue to use him for all her needs as he is very diverse in his tutoring subject.

I originally learned Algebra I in 7th grade before it became a state mandate to push every 7th or 8th grader who's able to into Algebra I. I took geometry the following summer and Algebra II with Trigonometry during 8th grade.
From 9th grade on I was called upon by friends in school to tutor them in algebra, and I rapidly became an accomplished algebra tutor during my high school years. In college I joined a Saturday program to teach middle and high school students algebra, gaining another 4 years experience.
More recently I've been called upon to help a college student who was taking Colle ... More

Let me start by saying Kazim was very nice and patient teacher but unfortunately it was a little hard for my son to understand him. My son really liked him and would of really like to continue with him but like I said he was a little hard to understand. But besides that he was a good teacher.

"A capable math and history tutor."
I currently live in Simi Valley. I have just completed my associate of science degree with focus in political science. I love helping other people who are having trouble with math and history. I can also help with geography. It gives me great satisfaction when I see a light bulb go off for my students as it is the sign that I did something right.... ... More

I use several versions of the Linux OS at home and in my business, including Ubuntu, Fedora, Mint, and Puppy. I have set up my home computer a "triple boot system," meaning that I can load either Windows or one of two Linux systems at startup, depending on my needs. I can assist new Linux users and those interested in using Linux for the first time to get acquainted with this system, including using trial (Live) versions from USB drives or CDs, loading a Linux system onto one's computer as the main OS, and making the transition from Windows/MAC to Linux. ... Maurizio is a native Italian speaker from the north of Italy (Venezia). He spoke to me in both Italian and English (more Italian of course) to help me perfect my accent and give me confidence. He spoke A LOT which was GREAT because I got to understand him and learn a couple of new words. He also introduced me to his dialect which was from Veneto. During my lesson I was introduced to another side of the Italian history and the rules of grammar. Although I was considered an advanced student, I lacked confidence and after 20 mins with Maurizio, I felt more comfortable in both my listening and speaking skills. He even brought a few printed pages he came up with and wrote out some grammar (passato remoto VS passato prossimo and imperfetto) rules for me. His level of speaking was VERY UNDERSTANDABLE and he never spoke too fast. From the first minutes to the end of our one hour lesson (even 15 minutes after that), Maurizio ALWAYS came up with a new topic and I was never bored. On the contrary, it helped me in getting to speak more. I recommend Maurizio for anyone looking to brush up on their speaking and listening skills or anyone who just wants to perfect their knowledge in Italian grammar. Grazie Maurizio.
Today was my second lesson with Maurizio and it went well. He arrived on time and gave me grammar lessons, conversation vocab. and gave me a small comic book for free to better my usage of Italian vocabulary. I feel even more confident when going over grammar rules and conversations since he is patient, speaks at a perfect (understanding) level, and is willing to go out of the way until one understands it. If you are really looking for someone to talk with A LOT in Italian, try at least one lesson with Maurizio.

Systems of equations, inequalities, trigonometry, exponential functions, radical expressions, etc. provide the basis for a lot of advanced mathematics that is needed in advanced applications in college and beyond.
I honestly do believe that algebra 1 is one of the best investment in terms of time spent studying/reward for a high school student.
Sometimes students find it a little bit dry as there are many rules and techniques to remember. But, a good teacher can throw in there some interesting problems to spice things up a little. For example, students often wonder what is all the fuss abou ... More
