Hi! My name is Alexis, you can call me Alex. I am an English major and have been going to college for 3 years now, working towards a teaching degree for high schoolers. I have experience with special needs children and I am very understanding with the concept that life throws us all lemons to make lemonade with. Raising children is a challenge and a blessing, and it takes a village as they say.
I come from a very large, family oriented family, lots of children. I love learning and chall... ... More

"Math Tutor for Middle and High School Students"
Dear Parents and Students,
I have decided to take up tutoring as a part time job, while I focus on finding a job related to my major. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Landscape Architecture. Currently, I am looking to tutor students in middle and high school Math (Basic Math, Pre-algebra, Algebra, Algebra 2, and some Trigonometry and Pre-calculus). I have no prior tutoring experience, but have many years of math experience. I possess a patient, friendly and easy going personality, w... ... More
I had Haroldo S. as a tutor for Organic Chem, and my sessions with Haroldo were not only extremely informative and helpful but also enjoyable. I especially liked having Haroldo as a tutor because he wasn't just about teaching the subject at hand; he was concerned with my overall performance as a student in general. Though Haroldo only tutored me in one subject, he was able to provide me with time management, test-taking, and study tips. He wants me to succeed as a student, and it really gave me confidence to know that he was genuinely interested in my academic well-being. I learned more during my time with Haroldo than I had the previous few weeks of the semester, and in addition, he gave me tips and skills I will be able to use for the rest of my life and academic career. Haroldo is an excellent tutor, and both helps me and wants me to succeed.

By my senior year, I obtained a teaching assistantship for a graduate level class on Computational Modeling of Cellular Systems, which was a challenging course that combined advanced math and cell biology for engineering st... ... "CTC Credentialed English, Reading, Writing teacher with PhD"
I love to teach because I love to learn. The two make for a very symbiotic relationship. As a PhD, I know that hard work and a passion for research and education pay off. I started tutoring while an undergraduate student at UCLA and have continued tutoring and formally teaching, both at the high school level as well as at the university level, since 2005. I have enjoyed working with students from varying age groups, from early adolescence to late adulthood. Regardless of their ages, I help my... ... More
