"Patient, experienced ESL tutor specializing in professional adults."
I have taught English for 14 years in both the public and private school systems. As part of the English curriculum, I taught study skills -- reading comprehension, skimming, summarizing, analyzing, note taking, listening, organizing, test taking, etc. Sometimes these skills were incorporated in a general classroom instruction; sometimes they were taught separately as specific learning skills, especially at the private school which focused on one-on-one instruction. Some of my students at the private school faced challenges such as ADD/ADHD, Asperger's, social anxiety, drug addiction histori ... More

I was taught basic crochet, embroidery and crewel work by my invalid grandmother as a young child as she was embarrassed that she had "failed" in her teaching of my mother, her only child. I still have several examples of tablecloths and such that we worked on together. My mother wasn't totally inept. Though she was primarily a fantastic gourmet cook, after my grandmother passed, she was determined to carry on the legacy that my grandmother and I shared and as such signed us both up for needlepoint classes for several years. I still have examples of this work as well. Other than passing o ... More

"Tutor for Math, SAT Test Prep, Accounting, C++ Programming, Excel"
Numerous successes in school and many years of work experiences as a supervisor prepared me to do well as a tutor.
At my high school, two out of three years, I ranked in the top three on the national math test.
While in college I did extremely well in subjects in which attention to detail was critical. More than one instructor requested my help in proofreading and editing mathematics or computer science textbooks.
In the workplace, I was promoted to Service Manager and given many workers t... ... More

Erica is a perfect fit for our daughter. Her calm, easy going and friendly personality compliments her passion for the subject (biology). She goes the distance in terms of support and inspiration so that our daughter feels well prepared, and thorough in this topic. She has also been helpful with other assignments. Erica makes sure that each sessions' time is well spent by staying on task and motivating when necessary.

"Bio and Genetics Student Wanting to Help!"
I just graduated with my Master's in Genetics of Human Disease from UCL in London, England. I love to travel and learn about the other cultures in the world we live in, hence doing my Master's abroad. I also recently graduated with my undergraduate from Roger Williams University in RI with a double degree in Biology and Psychology, with a minor in Chemistry. I have done lots of research in a laboratory and like helping students learn to love biology as much as I do. I have a few tricks up my... ... More

She was very flexible when it came to the hours and days that I wanted her to come by. She also gave me her phone number, so it was very easy to contact and she was always on time. She worked with how I learned and taught me how to do my work in a way where it came easiest to me. She is very outgoing and kind and seems to know what shes talking about.

I like to teach my students to learn algebra in their language. I watch how students solve problems, I ask them how they get to their solutions. I then teach to their thinking and solving processes. Algebra is totally doable. ... More
