"Sewing instructor"
I was taught basic crochet, embroidery and crewel work by my invalid grandmother as a young child as she was embarrassed that she had "failed" in her teaching of my mother, her only child. I still have several examples of tablecloths and such that we worked on together. My mother wasn't totally inept. Though she was primarily a fantastic gourmet cook, after my grandmother passed, she was determined to carry on the legacy that my grandmother and I shared and as such signed us both up for needlepoint classes for several years. I still have examples of this work as well. Other than passing o ... More

"Tutor for Math, SAT Test Prep, Accounting, C++ Programming, Excel"
Numerous successes in school and many years of work experiences as a supervisor prepared me to do well as a tutor.
At my high school, two out of three years, I ranked in the top three on the national math test.
While in college I did extremely well in subjects in which attention to detail was critical. More than one instructor requested my help in proofreading and editing mathematics or computer science textbooks.
In the workplace, I was promoted to Service Manager and given many workers t... ... More

At the first parent/teacher conference we learned that my 10 year old grandson was struggling with writing. The teacher explained how he was at the top of his class in reading, math, and science, but when it came to writing he was way below in his grade level. He "hated" all things writing and would simply choose not complete the work. His teacher was frustrated and he was starting to not want to go to school. We turned to WyzAnt for help and found Holly H.
Over the next few weeks she worked with my grandson once a week for 90 minutes. I wasn't sure we were making any progress until we received the a note from his teacher praising his work in class. He is doing better in class exercises in writing and in sharing his work.
This note was written 2 months after Holly started tutoring my grandson. We will continue our tutoring with Holly. She has proven her expertise in tutoring and ability to connect with a 10 year old who was struggling in school.
Thank you Holly!

Erica is a perfect fit for our daughter. Her calm, easy going and friendly personality compliments her passion for the subject (biology). She goes the distance in terms of support and inspiration so that our daughter feels well prepared, and thorough in this topic. She has also been helpful with other assignments. Erica makes sure that each sessions' time is well spent by staying on task and motivating when necessary.

"Improve your English with a Professional"
What do most people think when they hear the word "grammar"? They start worrying about their mistakes. I take a totally different approach. Certainly, it is important to speak and write correctly, but the higher priority is to become able to use the tool of grammar to accomplish your goals. Clarity and organization of thought are the higher priorities. I will teach you to have that, and at the same time I will communicate to you my love of grammar, a beautiful system of distinctions and nuances which empowers our meaning. ... More
