"Respect the past; Influence the future."
I was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, but have embraced Bloomington-Normal as my home since moving here in 1994. While the magnetism of Illinois State University was the initial draw that brought me here, the comforts of a community that respects education, promotes diversity, and seeks excellence kept me here.
A favorite of story of mine is when, for the first time, I shocked myself when I referred to Bloomington-Normal as home, which it now is. As dyed-in-the-wool a city b... ... More

Hello there. My name is Patrick, and I am a client of WyzAnt. My tutor is Robin L. She is great! I can't say enough good things about her. She has only been my tutor for a week, but my professors and I have seen an improvement in my knowledge of my courses. I am a 41 yr old single father, and Marine Corps. vet, freshman taking a college math and computer skills class, (have not been in a classroom since 1989). Robin is very patient, very understanding and helpful with my courses. She has already put me at ease with my classes and encourages me and motivates me. Robin, teaches classes at one of the nearby colleges so she is very busy, but, she is never too busy to call me back when I have a question, and she takes her time on the phone and during our tutoring sessions to make sure I understand and am comfortable with the material. I am so lucky too have her as my tutor, and WyzAnt is very lucky to have her as an employee. Thank you.
Sorry, the above review was from my first week with Robin. Right now, I have just completed week six of my 9 week course for both classes. Due to Robins help, especially with he computer class, I am carrying an A in both my classes! I have never had an A in MATH and my computer skills were less than sub-par until I became a client of WyzAnt, and its all due to Robin's FANTASTIC TUTORING SKILLS! I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be doing so well in these classes. I cannot say enough great things about her. My family and close friends have never been more proud of me and thankful I have Robin as a tutor. My confidence in myself has gone up and so has my self esteem and everyone I know can see that. Thank you WyzAnt hiring Robin, she has made a huge difference in my life.

Steven is great with my 8 year old son. He is very patient and makes math fun for him. Steven has a great sense of humor and my son looks forward to his sessions. I would recommend Steven to my family and friends!

I found Bill to have a broad knowledge of French, both spoken, grammatically and the historical roots of the words. I believe he has the skill and knowledge to help me with my goals of developing my French from tourist exchanges to a conversational level. And I think we will have fun in this process, which I also call part of my Alzheimer’s Prevention Program.
I also was impressed with Bill as a very scholarly and interesting person; and I will have to discipline myself to stay on subject with him. I suspect he would be an excellent tutor in Spanish and other linguistic studies as his knowledge of the origin of word roots is quite profound. He also seems to have a remarkable sense of sounds and the sounding of the words.
I'm looking forward to my next lesson!
