"Experienced 500 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher "

I began practicing yoga over three years ago hoping to relieve pain caused by a number of injuries from contact sports and construction work. What I found through the practice was a powerful source of rejuvenation, energy, and healing at all levels of being. Wanting to explore the deeper dimensions of yoga I spent the summer and fall of 2012 studying in Rishikesh, India, where I connected with the essence of Yoga and completed 500 hour Yoga Teacher and 2nd degree Reiki trainings. During the t... ... More

We are extremely delighted with Kate C. She initially tutored my older son for the ACT in math and science and also the SAT Subject II Math Level II tests. He increased his ACT scores by 2-5 points (ACT Science/33 and Math/34) and scored a 770 on the SAT Subject II Math Level II. She quickly evaluated how he learns, identified key areas of strength and weakness and tailored the sessions to them, and also provided sorely needed encouragement and positive feedback after a difficult academic year. She now tutors him in AP Physics AB, and his test and quiz scores have gone from the B to A- range to B+ to A+! Due to her teaching abilities, we asked her to work as well with our younger son, who is a freshman in high school, taking Honors Algebra/Geometry. Even though his personality and learning style are very different from his older brother's, she is able to work with him equally well, and he looks forward to his sessions. He says that she explains the concepts really well because she explains one concept from multiple angles. She has also identified areas of algebra that were taught in 7th and 8th grade but not mastered, and yet are essential building blocks for his high school course. With this re-teaching, he feels so much more confident and solid in his mathematical concepts. He believes that without her tutoring, he would be obtaining B's in tests/quizzes as opposed to his current A- average. Thank you so much!

"Science and Math for the Non-Traditional Student"

I offer science and math teaching for under-challenged, over-challenged, home schooled, twice-exceptional, interrupted, and other non-traditional learners. I have ten years of experience as a teacher, and have been a dedicated private tutor since 2013. I've worked with many wonderful students who are constantly teaching me that there's a different "best teaching strategy" for every learner. The modern classroom doesn't serve the needs of all students. Too many students believe that they ar... ... More

"Former professor, now a homeschool mom and tutor."

I was a Lecturer for 5 years at Hesser College and Chester College in multiple subjects. Before teaching, I spent 10+ years as a vision researcher at Harvard and its affiliates. In addition to teaching at the college level, I also homeschooled my son through middle school using an accredited curriculum. His exemplary test scores for curriculum progress and the ISEE standardized tests demonstrated both his learning and my teaching ability in all middle school subject matter. I am a patient... ... "Seeking students in multiple subjects, including ESL and writing"

I study linguistics and journalism at Brandeis University, where I have held two different editor positions on the school paper. My writing has been published in a range of publications, including weekly newspapers and monthly magazines. I'm familiar with a range of citation style, including MLA, APA, Chicago, and AP. My main strengths are language related — English, grammar, writing, and proofreading — but I've successfully tutored students in math and test preparation, as well. I've wor... ... More

"Wisdom, Confidence, Intellectual Capital and the Academic Edge!"

I took several economics courses as an undergraduate which included micro and macroeconomics. I have since taught the same classes at the high school honors level for 6 years, and have taught AP economics for 2 years. I have become well versed in the main principles and concepts of basic economics and have read "Principles of Economics" by Gregory Mankiw several times. In addition to owning the text book, I have a supplemental CD and workbooks, as well as several other college texts and materials. ... More

Brian is very good at explaining the material to me in a way that doesn't make me feel stupid or embarrassed. I think I have a better grasp of the material after our sessions.
Tom was great. My daughter Hailey gave him two thumbs up and after just one session she was able to have the light bulb go off for pre-ap Algebra II. I am so grateful that he could accommodate such short notice and come to our house to help her! We will definitely use him from now on with all her tutoring in math.
It was only the first hour of tutoring but Emily seems to be very knowledgeable about how to help my 8 year old daughter to learn to read faster.
