I contacted Amal about two weeks before my GRE exam, as I was worried about my performance on the math sections. She replied to my email right away and was readily available to tutor me. Amal was very patient and understanding. She effectively taught me the methods and concepts I needed to know. I am happy to say that I passed my GRE exam on the first attempt, thanks greatly to Amal!

"Experienced Math and English Tutor"
I love teaching. More specifically, I love being part of someone's discovery that math isn't really a foreign language and that writing doesn't have to be a torturous process. I believe that learning should be fun, and enjoy seeing the satisfaction, confidence, and wonder that comes with understanding and success.

"Experienced math and computer science tutor"
I graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2018 with a double major in computer science and math. I’ve worked in the computer science industry, but have always come back to my love of teaching.
In college, I was a TA for a variety of computer science and math courses. This involved running a discussion session where I answered the group’s questions and reviewed concepts, as well as one-on-one work in office hours.
In teaching math, it’s important to both explain the abstract concept be... ... More

The tutoring lesson itself went well I have no complaints in that department. Emily was knowledgeable and helpful with everything I asked and even agreed to see me super last minute which was great. However, when I received the bill for the one hour lesson we agreed to I was a little surprised to learn that I was charged $10 more than her hourly wage. At the end of our lesson we accidentally went 7 minutes over time and I actually had to stop the lesson myself because I had to go home. She billed me for $10 extra for 10 minutes. Emily did not notify me that we are going over-time and that going over-time actually results in extra charges. It is unfair to charge someone without telling them in advance; it's just bad etiquette. I'm a student and paying for a tutoring lesson is already financially straining enough without surprise extra charges. I'll pay the extra $10 but it's safe to say I won't be working with Emily again out of principle.
