"The Math Whisperer Mathematics and Related Topics"
I am a semiretired actuary having worked in the business field for nearly 45 years. Over the last 15 years I have successfully tutored students in mathematics and other fields related to mathematics such as Physics. The key to being a successful tutor is understanding the special needs of the student. Actuarial Science is a very complex field and I excel in taking difficult to understand topics and reducing them to concepts that a layman can relate to. I use this skill when working with stud... ... More

Fredrick was extremely prompt upon receiving my request. He contacted me within 30 minutes and our initial tutoring session was scheduled for that same day. He was thorough when explaining the process of each question, and helped me get through areas where I had difficulty. Fred displayed a true concern in making sure I came away with an understanding of the necessary concepts.

"Science/Technology/Engineering/Math Keeping it fun!"
Do you enjoy learning, making things work, or solving interesting problems? You probably also like creating new ways of looking at the world and expressing yourself! It's great fun to do these things and gain expertise in the process. That's what school is all about! And tutoring is meant to help you go the extra mile, or perhaps fill in any gaps that occur in the rush through your classes, sports, music/art lessons, etc. If you've ever had the experience of really enjoying an exam, kno... ... Gil was patient, interested, and made the work interesting to my middle schooler. He was skilled at breaking complex concepts into simple "chunks" of information, and seemed to clearly grasp where to slow down and where to speed up. He was very responsive to child's needs and to parents' concerns. He is quick to respond by email and text.
Definitely recommend Gil!

"MIT Grad with "No Fear" Approach to Technical Topics"
** June 2017 Update: Please note that I presently work largely with students seeking extracurricular or advanced instruction in programming, robotics, and mathematics. I work with other students on a casebycase basis. **
It's much harder to learn something when you don't care about the topic.
That's why I've always approached learning as two step process.
The first step is getting to the "hmm!" moment that moment when you realize that the particular topic you're studying really does m... ... More

"My goal is to build skills that enable students to succeed"
My goal is to identify individual student’s gifts and strengths, and then show the students how to leverage their own talents, enabling them to develop their own specific study skills and work habits. This will lead to better grades and test scores in the short term, and transfer over to superior performance in the workplace in the long term as well. If you live on the west side, there is little chance that you do not have a friend or neighbor that I have tutored.

"Experienced Math and Computer tutor for all math and science classes"
I was an MSI tutor and subject tutor at UC Santa Cruz for Calculus A, Calculus B, Linear Algebra, and Computer Engineering (upper division logic design class using Xillix for lab work). An MSI tutor is required to attend lecture and teaches a larger group of students while subject tutor only teaches a small group of students. I was also a lab tutor for the computer engineering class that I mentioned earlier.

Tiffany is by far the best tutor I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Her ability to explain things to you and help you understand what you're studying along with her techniques and methods are flawless. She's always on time and ready to get started once you get there. Every session she was prepared with materials and guidelines to make everything easier for me. Aside from that, by the end of each session she gave me homework so that I could practice while at home and keep everything still fresh in my head for the next time we met. I recommend Tiffany to anybody who is looking for a patient tutor with skills that will help you greatly in what you want to improve.

I had my 11th grade daughter being tutored by Kristy and she was so great, I now have my 8th grade daughter as well!

Said is an excellent tutor. He is very patient and extremely knowledgeable in French. He is well prepared and ready to help anyone desiring to enhance their French language skills.

Thank you so much for all the help you have been giving Sara, it is really helping with her grade and confidence.
