We specifically looked for a tutor who can help with our 11th grade daughter, who is an overall strong student, prepare for SAT essay in a short period of time. Joy did an excellent job in communicating what is important in SAT essay writing and how to produce a good essay consistently. Those tips were very valuable. She also reviewed my daughter's work and gave her feed-backs. My daughter only had 3 lessons with Joy, but these 3 lessons gave her much confidence. We are very glad we looked for an SAT essay tutor on WyzAnt and found Joy.
I would like to add that my daughter just found that she got 790 in SAT writing, thanks to Joy!

As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), I tutor as a hobby because I enjoy helping young people learn to love numbers and am specially trained in SAT math tutoring, which covers all basic math topics and test-taking strategies. Although math is my specialty, I also am certified to tutor SAT Reading and Writing, Latin, English, public speaking, essay writing, and reading comprehension. I take the time to tutor because I believe that one-to-one learning is most effective in helping students who... ... More

I strongly recommend French lessons with Benoit. This summer I needed to learn how to read French in order to pass a graduate school French exam. I chose Benoit because of his quick responses to my emails, because he is a native speaker, and because he was enthusiastic about helping me. Benoit's teaching experience was evident from the beginning of the first lesson--he listened to what my goals were, figured out where to begin, and then dove right into teaching me the basics. Foreign languages have always been difficult for me, but I picked up on the basics of French quicker with Benoit than I had with either Latin, Spanish, or a previous attempt at French in the past. I appreciated his patience and and encouraging levity in every exercise we did, which made it feel less like a nerve-inducing class and more like having a coffee with a friendly French speaker. Benoit met me at a library that was convenient for me and always had a full lesson prepared in advance but was also willing to take a detour over the course of the lesson if I had something I had a question on or wanted more practice on. Great experience, highly recommended.

I had lectured to multiple classes and prepared students for final exams with success. During my teaching ... ... More
When she doesn't know something she searches out the answer. I am always so impressed with all the work she does in researching questions and her patience with repetitive questions and asking her to repeat things a million times is extraordinary. Learning from Chava has been fun & so incredibly productive. As I probably said before, Chava is a joy to learn from.
