I desperately needed to improve my Russian conversational skills, and I was somewhat in despair because none of the official, academic language programs I had wanted to attend ended up working out. But it must have been fate, because then I found Marina, who was a far better teacher than I would have had in the other programs. Every day, without fail, she had new, interesting articles/stories to read, new questions to ask, and new cultural info to provide. She was patient with my faltering Russian, but made sure to challenge me to learn and use new words, and she didn't oversimplify her own language when she spoke. And though I still have a long way to go, I am now much more confident that when I go to Russia, I will be able to comprehend the world around me and make myself understood--which is exactly what I wanted. But equally importantly, I really enjoyed learning from Marina. She is a truly kind, patient, and gentle human being, and while I may have only gone to her to learn Russian, I ended up also learning so much about what's important in life. I am a better person for having met her, and I would recommend her to anyone in need of a Russian tutor or a life coach! Spacibo, Marina Vladimirovna! Bcego dobrogo.
