"Patient algebra, geometry, math in GED/ASVAB, history, pol.sci. tutor"
My tutoring work and experience extends into Algebra 2. While I need to brush up on logarithms when I tutor students in this subject, all other areas I find easy and enjoyable. I have found it's easy to help students advance through much of algebra 2 with only one on one attention. I went through four years of high school mathematics myself which included trig and pre-calculus. I also completed a year of calculus in college. While I'm comfortable with all we covered in high school, I don't tutor in calculus. ... More

A native German I came to the US in 1957 and attended Marist college from 1962 to 1966. I spent my first year away in Glasgow, Scotland, teaching French at St. Mungo's Academy. "Learning a new language can be fun and rewarding"
Initially, languages did not come easily to me. My first year of middle-school Spanish, I was boggled by the idea that verbs conjugated and, once I started studying Latin, that nouns declined. It all seemed so...foreign to me.
But with the help of a very patient host family while on a ninth-grade exchange program in Mexico, I realized not only how useful speaking and understanding a foreign language could be, but how beautifully that language could express feelings English could not.

I have a PhD in Economics from University of Arizona. My advisor received the Nobel Prize in Economics and I have learned directly from him how to explain its basic principles in a clear, down-to-earth fashion. I have a degree in Business from Southwestern College.
I started teaching and tutoring during my last years in high school. I was a Calculus tutor in college, and a computer programming and economics teaching assistant during graduate school. Since then I have taught IT, Business, a... ... More
There have been four lessons so far, and I can already see improvement. Cecilia has shown great patience and a fine sense of humor as she attempts to teach not only the Italian language but also the culture and spirit of Italy. I highly recommend her.
Bill M. from Cortlandt Manor, NY
My profile title should give you a pretty good idea of what I like about my Country (Italy, obviously).
My most recent tutoring experiences included
- an ex-police officer, now bodyguard for a VIP in New York City. His love for Italy included cars, dogs and food (he end up going to Bologna, my hometown, for a 1 month course to learn how to cook, and indeed he did, just ask his wife!),
- a female firefighter (high ranking) in love with Italian Art, small Italian towns, good wine and Itali... ... More
