"Experienced ACT (Scored 36/36/36/36) and Math Tutor"
Hi, I'm Tony! I'm a sophomore currently studying computer science and mathematics at Vanderbilt University. I've always been very passionate about tutoring, as I was an active tutor for most of my high school career at Mathnasium, where I taught anything from basic addition and subtraction to multivariable calculus. I believe a good tutor must strive to understand a subject from the perspective of their student in order to efficiently and effectively convey the information they are teaching. ... ... More

Colleen knows her material well. She comes well prepared to teach and does not waste any time. She is very patient and makes you feel comfortable when asking questions. She explains information in details, which helps me learn, instead of memorizing things. Thank you Colleen. You are exactly what I was looking for in a tutor!

"Professor for Advanced Writing and Public Health"
The ACT test, like most standardized tests, is not really a test about your depth of knowledge but about your application of basic knowledge in a limited time period. The ACT English test is about being able to read and understand written passages about various topics, vocabulary, and how to put one's thoughts together to address various topics. Typically, there will be one to three different types of writing assignments: argumentative, expository, or descriptive. I have tutored many students and all have either improved their scores or received good first scores. ... More

"The Tutor Guru: ACT, SAT, and GRE"
There's a moment that happens at least once (maybe twice or more) times throughout every tutoring session I lead. A breakthrough. A light bulb moment. A student smile. "I get it now..."
These moments are precisely why I love tutoring. These tiny epiphanies change students' mindsets about learning, and if you have enough of them, they change your score. And if you boost your ACT or SAT score, that could mean new scholarship offers in your mailbox or a new set of college or university options.... ... More

Gary is really great! I needed help for a major class project where I had to use CSS, HTML, JQuery, and JavaScript, and Gary was able to help me with all of it. Through detailed instruction and clear examples he really helped me successfully complete my assignment. He also really enhanced my knowledge of the material and I ended up understanding the intrinsics of what I was doing more than ever before. He is very knowledgable, and comes to each lesson prepared. He is also extremely patient, especially with a student who is woefully behind. He really made a difference for me, and my class instructor was very impressed with my assignment -a first for me. I'd recommend Gary to anyone in need of a programming tutor and I will continue to use him whenever I need help in the future.
