"Learn how to enjoy a book and get the most out of your reading"

Presently I work as a Reading Specialist with Middle and High School special needs students. My case load consists of students with a variety of disabilities such as Autism, Aspergers, ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, and emotional difficulties. For my students with ADD/ADHD I am very cognizant that they may need periods of time within each session to move about and that as instruction occurs they may need to manipulate something in their hands or possibly chew gum. I believe in a hands-on and active approach to learning. I find that with problems of memorization, using both red or other brightly colored pens and pacing whil... ... More

Pat is the most patient person I have ever met. Math makes me cry, there is no question about it. She has been helping me with the crazy math I need to do. At my age, too! (I am 48) Its not just kids that can't figure out how to do this math stuff :D Anyway, Pat has a wonderful sense of humor too, and she makes math not so scary for people like me.
I greatly appreciate Girlie making available some time for my daughter so quickly. It was a great help - my daughter was very appreciative and was very eager to recreate some of her notes when she got home from the session. We look forward to seeing Girlie again.
