We like her, and my daughter is happy to have her. The first lesson was the perfect start we were looking for. She knows how to handle kids, and her experience is quite evident.

"Experienced English tutor specializing in writing and test prep"
A former writer, editor and high school English teacher, I am now tutoring students for the SAT/ACT tests and high school English class work. For the SAT/ACT, I draw on a variety of test strategies such as those included in the College Board SAT Study Guide, The Princeton Review Reading and Writing Prep and Barron's SAT Writing and Reading Workbooks. I review several strategies with my students and let them decide which strategy works best for them.
I always ask my students to take a diagnos... ... More

Ari takes a holistic approach to tutoring. He reviewed the trouble spots from my son’s prior ACT tests and tailored his approach accordingly. We just got my son’s scores back and his scores dramatically improved, his rank went from the 93rd to the 98th percentile. He was incredibly conscientious and really connected with my son.

"Verbal/Math SAT and ACT Tutor with Creative Writing Expertise"
I am a graduate student working toward my MFA in creative writing at The New School in New York, and I have extensive experience tutoring all sections of both the SAT and ACT. Prior to tutoring, I worked for 15 years as a professional writer, first as a journalist and then as the ghostwriter for the CEO of a financial company.
While the best tutors can provide valuable assistance during sessions, what happens between sessions is equally as crucial. I thus believe that a great tutor must b... ... More

I highly recommend Dr Andrea R: not only is she exceedingly qualified as a reading specialist, but she also has great personal skills when dealing with young students, such as abundant patience and listening abilities. Above all, she is an exceptional self-confidence builder.

"Ph.D. Tutor: K-9 Reading, Math, Writing, Test Prep, Special Needs"
I have worked with special needs children, their families, teachers, IEP teams, and psychologists for many decades. Ever since I was both a master’s and doctoral student, I studied Early Childhood Development, Cognitive Learning, and Children with Learning Disabilities.
As a school psychologist, children diagnosed with ADD/ADHD were in every classroom and every school in which I worked. These children typically exhibit the behavioral characteristics of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.
When I worked in the corporate sector, I wrote and lectured about this disorder, as ... More

We presented Amie with an a very difficult task. My son had failed two geometry tests (one I found out about only that day) and he had only two days to re-take and pass both tests or he would lose the ability to play summer baseball. In one hour, Amie not only managed to go over all the info for both tests, she also left my son with the notes he needed to study further on his own. My son said he felt very comfortable working with Amie, and I could tell she was very knowledgeable, patient, and was able to clearly explain the problems to him. We haven't gotten the results yet, but my son feels confident he passed both tests. I will absolutely be calling Amie if we need a tutor again.

Lisa started working on French with my daughter when she transferred to a new school in the 8th grade and the French was more advanced than her prior school. By the end of that year my daughter won the French award at graduation! From your very first meeting with Lisa you will know that she is something special. She is professional, dedicated, punctual and very accommodating to scheduling changes that came up from after school activities. She is also very positive and built up my daughter's confidence. I recommend Lisa - she is a first class tutor and person!
