As a single and working mom, I am constantly looking for ways to spend more time to focus on my son's reading and overall educational development. I was introduced to WyzAnt and thus found Janet. My son began reading and math lessons with Janet as he was just about to enter 1st grade. I loved how she took time to get to know him during the first few sessions which in turn made him more receptive and built the trust needed for him to succeed. I saw results after the very first session, meaning my son was asking me "mom, when is she coming back." Any mom knows that's a great sign of things to come. Here we are almost a year later and my son has breezed through 1st grade. Janet not only taught my son reading skills and math comprehension, she taught him soft skills such as how to ask questions when he doesn't understand as well as ways to make learning fun. I can go on and on... I am more than pleased with Janet. I ask her all the time, "Can you tutor my son until he goes off to College" (he-he). All in all... she is awesome. I have referred my friends and colleagues to her as well.

"Reading and math tutor"

I have always loved math and reading, but it wasn't until I had children of my own that I discovered my passion for teaching these subjects! After graduating from college, I worked in a high-paying job for nearly eleven years, but as soon as my children started school, I started volunteering at their elementary school. That was fourteen years ago, and I've been working at the same school in some capacity or another ever since! Several years ago I implemented a computer-based phonics program at the elementary school. Soon afterwards, I tutored bilingual elementary and middle school studen ... More

Steven is great! Our daughter is a freshman in High School this year and is having the typical struggles with introduction to Algebra. She was growing very frustrated and so we thought a tutor may be a good solution.... and it was/is. She really likes working with Steven and actually says she enjoys learning from him (don't think I've ever heard such a thing from her....haha). Her grades are already improving after just a couple of weeks with Steven. We are so glad we are able to have him for a tutor to our daughter.

Eugene was gracious and literally went "the extra mile" when he tutored our son in AP Calculus. Although we live on the other side of town from Eugene, he graciously offered to drive across town to meet with our son. He seems very knowledgeable in Calculus, and showed our son some advanced problem solving techniques that have not yet even been covered in his regular class. We very much appreciate Eugene's dedication and courtesy, and would recommend him without hesitation to anyone seeking a tutor for advanced high school mathematics.

She reviewed and brainstormed a case with me. She was awesome! I will reach out to her again in the later part of the semester.
According to my student: Natalia has an "encyclopedic knowledge" of chemistry that she is able to clearly and concisely explain. She is accommodating and is focused on giving the student what they need, which is exactly what we're looking for.
Mrs Meredith is such a wonderful tutor! She is helping me in math, English and some science also. She is so helpful, patient! I am so grateful that I found her. She is worth every dollar trust me. I have been extremely improving in math. What can I say? She is a great tutor. I would recommend her to anyone with seeking help in math or any other subject!
She is doing a great job teaching our son German grammar, incorporating internet and poetry into the lesson and homework. Sophie has always arrived on time and proved to be reliable. She was able to access his written level quickly and has individualized his lessons to fit his needs. We will continue to use Sophie.
