"Experienced Encouraging Teacher"
I have been a teacher since 1993. During that time I earned three degrees (BS, MA and PhD), a English language teaching certificate and a postgraduate diploma in Film Sound Design. My teaching experience is mainly from English language classes, where my strengths have been grammar, test preparation, reading comprehension and academic writing. In addition to this, I have taught film sound history and analysis at the Masters degree level. As a teacher I prefer not to lecture; I would rather sti... ... More

"Let me help you learn German!"
I enjoy meeting and working with anyone who wants to learn and who wants to enjoy doing it!
Besides formal university coursework in German language and literature, I learned German in Germany, living with a German family. I taught college-level German language (spoken and written) for three years in the US, and used German as my second language for PhD studies at Vanderbilt University.
I like for students to recognize their progress and to enjoy the process of learning. Acqui... ... More

"Language Arts, ESL, and Music: creative tutoring for all ages"
I love both learning and teaching, and particularly enjoy working one-on-one and with small groups. It is important to me to have a thorough understanding of each student's background, learning style, and goals so that I can craft the most effective strategies as a tutor. I believe in a holistic approach that takes into consideration the student's emotions, interests, physical needs, family values and social context, as well as academic goals.
I have a BA in Music from the University of Was... ... More

Dear Future Tutored Student-
Frank has been tutoring my 15 year old son with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). Frank is very mellow and a true Type B personality which is great for my son who moves at the speed of sound at all times. I have never seen Frank lose his patience or get short with my son and believe me my son can be difficult at times but Frank has a gentle way about him and continues to reexplain numerous times so that my son understands. I know that there are times when my son just has had enough with school and a large load of homework and he will work with Frank. I highly recommend Frank to anybody who needs a tutor with great knowledge and skill, I know I plan to use Frank until my son finishes high school and probably into college. I only hope Frank will still tutor for that long as I had a tutor for 4 years prior to picking Frank, the previous tutor had family to take care of and was unable to continue tutoring with us as he moved to a different state.
Frank raised my sons grade from a low D 61% to a 70-72% C in a short period of time. I am hoping that my son finishes Geometry with a B or an A. Math is not his strong area and Frank has helped greatly. Thanks!

Gail is a great tutor and really identified the areas to focus on for my kids and custom made plans to help them improve. She has increased reading confidence and done a great job preparing them for school assessments. I highly recommend her!!
