This was our first experience using WyzAnt and a tutor. Laura was the perfect fit for my son. She is patient and extremely smart. She had the ability to boost his vocabulary confidence tremendously and encourage him in such a positive manor. He was so eager to see her each week and review and learn new words and SSAT strategies. I cannot thank her enough and I hope to work with her again in the future.

Robert was a great help in building a connection and providing a solid foundation for overall study improvement. While primarily focused on geometry, Robert's broad understanding and teaching background provided great insight to improve our son's overall performance. Robert's calm demeanor created a comfortable environment for our son to learn. With only 1 month of tutoring 1 night per week, we were able to see improvement in tests and an overall grade improvement from a C+ to a B+.

"Writing tutor"

I tend to have a gregarious nature when I'm vis-a-vis with a student which is why I incorporate individual conferencing in the curriculum I've established in my college classrooms on campus. I'm friendly but firm, and although some students have initially found my pedagogical style somewhat daunting; in the end, I get results, and this is what most of my students ultimately come to appreciate and for which they, in the end, thank me. I've come to know this after having gone on "rate my prof... ... More

"Experienced Educator"

Tutoring is a gift. Both for me and for my students. I think about how much I learn and grow everyday working on reading and writing with others, and really, I kid you not, I feel so grateful to have the opportunity to do this work. I love all things having to do with the language arts. Now, tutoring is most obviously a gift for my student; it is a game changer, an investment, and increases comfort and confidence in an academic subject so much that it's truly worth every penny. I am an exp... ... More

This tutor goes way out of her way, to help my son. She plans lessons thoroughly, offers instruction, and offers ideas to not only my son but to me as the parent. She of course charges for the time she is with my son tutoring him, but the lesson planning with instruction and listed optional resources she puts together for our convenience is done on her own time. My child is easily distracted which has led to all kinds of problems trying to get homework done and to focus long enough to get the extra help that he needs. This tutor has a knack of getting his full attention and keeping him thoroughly involved in his work. This tutor is interactive with my child, she engages him verbally throughout, encouraging him and helping him to express his own ideas as well as forming different perspectives for other ideas. Am very happy with this tutor.
Athina is an excellent tutor. In every lesson she inspires me for more knowledge in Greek language and civilization. I'm so happy to have her as my tutor.
I recently got in touch with Debbie W. for help with my current college essay. Before sending Debbie my essay, I had two high school English teachers and my parents look at it, so I thought it was close to finished. She used track changes to suggest edits for my essay and when I opened my essay after reviewed it, it was completely torn apart (in the best way possible). She caught so many errors that no one, not even my English teacher who teaches grammar and writing, had caught before! We also chatted about the college admissions process afterwards. It was extremely comforting talking to her because she obviously had lots of knowledge and experience with the admissions process and let me know she could help me with any step of the way. She's easy going, immensely helpful, experienced and genuinely cares about her students.
