Barb is the best. Period. If I were to imagine the perfect tutor, she would surpass my dream. She is more than someone who has vast experience tutoring kids. She has great knowledge of specific programs that WORK for kids who struggle with reading and writing. She understands their challenges, the frustrations, and how that affects their emotional well-being. And I cannot believe how much she accomplishes in each lesson! She works on so many levels: from basic skills to help sound out words, to handwriting, to reading fluency, to power sentence and paragraph writing, to comforting factoids about successful people with dyslexia, to how the brain works. My son has made so much progress in the three weeks that she's been working with him! He looks forward to his sessions with her, and sees great improvement already. He himself says he's learned more with Barb than in the past two years at school. I agree completely.

I managed to get accepted into a masters program in statistics with a bachelors in music. Many holes in my math foundation. To top it off, I'm in my 50's. I found Scott when I suddenly realized that I had bitten off more than I could chew this semester.
He has been fantastic. He has quickly been able to get a clear picture of where I'm weak and has begun filling in the gaps. His explanations are clear and help you understand why something works the way it does. I'm catching up to my peers and doing much better in both of my classes. I'm not wasting a bunch of time while the tutor tries to figure out how to do my work.
