She was very nice. Always explains math problems fully. She will give you extra examples to ensure you truly understand the concept. If she is in the middle of explaining or going over problems at the end of the session she will stay past the end of the session. Overall a very good tutor that want to see you succeed.

"Everybody can learn math! It is not a big deal!"

I have an MEd from Western Governors University and a degree in Mathematics from Abant Izzet Baysal University. I have been teaching for 13 years now. I like teaching math and making students understand the difficult concepts. It is fun to watch when students discover how math works. Everyone has their own pace when understanding math. Just don't give up and seek for help. You will get it. They are all human discoveries anyways. I have taught from Algebra 1 to AP Calculus during my experience... ... More

"Dedicated and Effective Math Tutor using various teaching strategies."

Every student that I have tutored in the last 6 years has passed the Math Regents and Final Exams with the lowest score being 65 and the highest score being a 95. I have tutored students in Long Island, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Queens. Students would show me the topics that the teachers taught them in class and I would give them practice questions to check to see how much they know and where their weaknesses are.... ... More

"Want help with pre-algebra, algebra 1+2, trig, comp sci, or SAT prep?"

Hello. I am Brett. My favorite part about teaching was working one-on-one with students after school. That's when I could really feel the difference I was making. I find sometimes it's a matter of building up confidence, while other times it's a combination of confidence and individually tailored instruction. I graduated from U. of Maryland at College Park twice, with degrees in Economics + Linguistics (double major) and Mechanical Engineering. My teaching experience includes special needs m... ... More

Mr. J.'s scope of knowledge has thus far been very useful for my MCAT preparation, specifically in the areas of Physics and General Chemistry, but also in Biology. He seems to have a thorough understanding of topics that the MCAT likes to cover, which allows me to focus on what is essential so as to save precious time preparing for the exam. I appreciate the fact that throughout his tutoring sessions, he has encouraged me to utilize my course subject textbooks in addition to the MCAT prep books provided by Princeton Review and Kaplan. This allows me to obtain a more commanding understanding of the information involving a topic that the MCAT might present to me on test day. Mr. J.'s positive attitude regarding my performance has also boosted my confidence, and makes me feel as if I have a solid grasp of the pertinent material for the exam. Approachability is an attribute which every teacher should possess; this maximizes communication with the student. Mr. J. epitomizes approachability, and I know this will serve him well as he continues to help students prepare for various exams. I am very thankful for all the help he has provided me.
My daughter's first session with Sam went very well and she said she found it very helpful. Working mostly on SAT math but it is nice that Sam is so knowledgeable in many areas and will be able to help with her schoolwork in math and physics. Recommend this tutor based on the initial experience.
