My tutoring work and experience extends into Algebra 2. While I need to brush up on logarithms when I tutor students in this subject, all other areas I find easy and enjoyable. I have found it's easy to help students advance through much of algebra 2 with only one on one attention. I went through four years of high school mathematics myself which included trig and pre-calculus. I also completed a year of calculus in college. While I'm comfortable with all we covered in high school, I don't tutor in calculus. ... More
Nancy L. is a rare gem in the world of teaching. Not only does she have a wealth of information, she has a way of presenting it to suit the needs of the individual student's learning style. She is exceptional in regents, prep and test taking skills. She is accommodating and fair. My daughter loved her! She goes above and beyond her role as a tutor. A real find.

As the parent of a son whose neurological testing confirmed the diagnosis, I made a commitment to study everything available to help him navigate the public school/special education system so that he could be successful in his educational endeavors. My son's experience and that of the many students I have tutored over the years confirms that the schools need to do more for these students than they have. ADD can significantly differ from ADHD to an extent that the two conditions should not be considered synomomous. Additionally, the hyperactive component is often outgrown as the child matures. ... "BS and MS in Chemistry, 4 Years' Experience Tutoring and Teaching"
I've been tutoring my fellow students since I was in elementary school, and in one extreme case, I helped one of my friends understand calculus well enough to bring his grade up from a projected F to a C+ in a third of a semester. I'm a graduate with a B.S. from SUNY Buffalo and an M.S. from SUNY Binghamton, both in Chemistry with specializations in Physical, Inorganic, and Analytical Chemistry. I plan on getting my PhD with a teaching certification, and my year of tutoring experience in addi... ... More
Upon search of assistance, I was looking for quality service. In my mind, $50 dollars was a reasonable price for a tutor whom could help me. Mr. Kevin stated he is charging for the “hour worth of work as I was 45 minutes late for my appointment.†I am not sure what that means, but I did contact him and he made it seem like it was okay. I am completely astounded because I am still stuck at point one yet Mr. Kevin walks away with 50 dollars. There were two things I recall Mr. Kevin asked me in the session which was what is standard deviation? Also, what does probability of successes mean? Other than that we were stuck on one problem for an answer with no further guidance. As a student and single parent I was overcharged because Mr. Kevin could not provide help.
Communication- there was not much communication about the lesson at all. More personal communication was done than actually getting the lesson taught.
Punctuality- He was on time at site.
Expertise- He lacked expertise and made a comment that “he hasn’t done this in years.†In reference to my Data Analysis Class (probability, standard deviation, mean, etc)

There have been four lessons so far, and I can already see improvement. Cecilia has shown great patience and a fine sense of humor as she attempts to teach not only the Italian language but also the culture and spirit of Italy. I highly recommend her.

My profile title should give you a pretty good idea of what I like about my Country (Italy, obviously).
My most recent tutoring experiences included
- an ex-police officer, now bodyguard for a VIP in New York City. His love for Italy included cars, dogs and food (he end up going to Bologna, my hometown, for a 1 month course to learn how to cook, and indeed he did, just ask his wife!),
- a female firefighter (high ranking) in love with Italian Art, small Italian towns, good wine and Itali... ... More
