Louise took my nephew and assessed him for the first appointment. She made it seem fun and like it was enjoyable to learn. She really kept him from feeling like he was being singled out due to falling a little behind. She also took him around the library and had a way of drumming him up so that he was excited about reading (which he has not shown a lot of interest in). We should have many more encounters with her and I look forward to seeing how she plans to catch him up.

"Experienced Retired Elementary Teacher"
As an elementary teacher for 33 years, I have worked with lots of students in the classroom who were diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. I have had training on techniques that work with these children. In addition, I have done personal research on this subject because I have a 10 year old grandson (who lives with me at this time) who has been diagnosed with ADHD within the past 2 years. For this reason, I have recently "refreshed" my information on dealing with the problems that ADD/ADHD children encounter in an effort to help my grandson function well in an educational setting. ... John has been able to get math performance out of my 18 year old daughter that no one to date has been able to do. She took her ACT test this weekend and informed me that the Math section was "easy". I can tell you there is only one reason the Math section was "easy" and that was because John had her so well prepared!!!! He is an excellent instructor and really knows how to get his student engaged with the subject material. I just wish we had met him earlier. Thank you so much John.

Philip has been tutoring my 6th grader son for a few months. He is very thorough, patient, and pleasant in his approach to tutoring. Philip was able to connect with my child at his level of interest by incorporating his passion for animals, diving, and skateboarding into the science lessons, making it very exciting for my son.
I like his energy and caring attitude; he takes a spacial interest in making sure he delivers a good lesson every time.

I have a strong background in biology, ecology, and mathematics, and am currently studying the behavioral ecology of large predators like sharks. I teach college students and am looking to help younger students (K-12) succeed in course work they may be struggling with as well as provide motivation to improve their educational habitats. In addition to experience in the classroom, I have served as a tutor, mentor for young adults with the Boy Scouts of America, and hands-on teacher about the ... ... More

I've also learned a lot from my own two children- of which one has special needs- and from my military spouse. My long-term goals include writing a good book, expanding my educational offerings, and working with Deaf culture in a classroom setting.
I am interested in just about every academic subject other than math and science a... ... More
