We have found exactly what he have been looking for. Lessons are prepared based on the student needs. Gabriela is very patient and creates very relaxed comfortable environment that helps to focus on the language. She is not pushing students but rather tries to understand where are the weaknesses and what pace is acceptable for a student. This was totally different experience from what we had before. I can only recommend.
4/6 - We have only barely 50 days for the end of the year and my kid needed help on the phonic sounds and day to day conversations to move to 1 st grade from KG. She missed 3 months of her academic due to personal fail issues. We met Leah and my kid mingled with her straightaway. Leah started session in the first day, she started working with vowels and statement we may use every day like 'you are welcome, thank you.'
4/7 - Leah worked on the consonants and continued vowels. My kid enjoys the time with Leah and she started answering to questions in statements. Leah engaged her in public conversations like ordering a coffee in Starbucks etc.
4/10 - Leah continues her sessions.
4/12 - My kid had a great day today, yes she got a chance to play with other local kids during the play dates. Leah worked with her and engaged her on friendly conversations. My kid always had fear about dogs but today we noticed she played with dogs which is big relief, she will not fear for dogs here after. Leah will work with my kid on the questioning and stories/vocabularies going forward.
4/16 to 4/19 - Leah worked very hard with my kid on every day manners and phonic sounds. She has also started concentrating on the directions and upper case letter writing. As per our request Leah is teaching vocabularies and she is using the 1st grade materials to teach my kid, which should be very helpful for her to catch up to the speed. She started interacting with my kid's class teacher and collecting kid's weakness details to work hard on those stuffs.
One Friday night last summer my son expressed interest in a tutor for his college JAVA class. That night I looked on Wyzant, and Alexis responded to my inquiry within minutes. At our request, he was at our front door on Saturday morning -- how fortunate for us.
Alexis is an outstanding tutor, supporting my son with understandable, practical explanations and the tools necessary to do well in class. His passion and enthusiasm for what he does is infectious, and our son is so excited to start working in the computer world upon graduation. I am a Ph.D. in engineering, and I can fully say that Alexis does a terrific job.
My son is now away at college and continues to have regular sessions with Alexis via SKYPE. It is an integral part of my son's success in his programming classes, even going beyond what is being taught in the classroom to expand his knowledge and prepare him for the workplace. Alexis also does calculus tutoring and my son will be using Alexis for those classes as well. Alexis does math, algebra, calculus and computer tutoring for high school students, and I highly recommend him.
