Amy did a wonderful job. She showed up a few minutes before the class was to begin and spoke with me briefly to confirm what we had talked about over the phone; she met my son and quickly put him at ease. They began right away and she proficiently diagnosed where he was and where he needed to be. Her direction was steady and constant over the next hour; engaging him at every step. The time flew by and at the end of the session, my son literally bounced away from the time with Amy, encouraged and believing that he indeed could do algebra! We are both excited about the next lesson.
My daughter worked with Robin last fall on Algebra II. She explains concepts in easy to understand language, breaks things down into steps, works problems with the student and then challenges them to try what they have just learned on their own. She is more concerned with the students understanding that the clock, too. A couple minutes over to be sure that the student understands a concept is not a problem.
She does have a number of small dogs that she fosters for a rescue organization. That was a plus for my daughter. She worked better for having a furry head to pet between math problems. Robin is highly recommended.
I have been receiving tutoring sessions from Anthony for my precalculus class, and I was struggling with a lot of the material. Anthony has made the material I felt lost in, due to vague textbook instructions and limited time with the professor, much more accessible and easier to understand. As a tutor, he explains various formulas and methods and will break down problems without rushing you. Instead he makes sure you understand the steps and the answers before moving on. Overall, I have been improving greatly in my course, and feel less frustrated with the coursework.
