"Advanced Writing, English, and Proofreading Tutor (w/ Doctoral Degree)"

I have a strong combination of personal experience with study skills, a good record of experience working in a small academic, group setting; as well as, experience in the individual, tutoring, setting. These experiences have exposed me to a sufficient diversity of study approaches (and student challenges) so that I can suggest study skills and tailor a study plan that pushes for good grades and success for most students eager to improve their approach. At UCLA, I taught an upper-division enri ... More

Our son is 14 and presently in a great private school that ends in 8th grade. He will be going to the public high school starting in 9th grade next year. Since we wanted him to keep up the high academic level that he has been used to, so we started looking for tutors. In finding Donald, I think we hit the jackpot. He has an incredible command over the subject matter and systematically breaks down a writing assignment. The very detailed, yet concise summaries he writes promptly after the tutoring session are extremely helpful. They let us know what was covered during the session and what our son needs to work on for the following week. Donald is extremely kind and caring and goes beyond the call of duty! For Donald teaching is not a job, it's a calling, and that makes all the difference.

After one meeting with Jack, my son is ready to meet again! He enjoyed Jack's approach for the first meeting. We both suspect the subsequent meetings will be set up to target additional test taking skills/strategy along with review of practice test homework in all 3 areas. Looks like we are off to the right start.

My son who is taking an advanced high-school calculus course needed some support for his studies, but I needed somebody who could work with my son at a pace appropriate for him. He also wanted a tutor with whom he could work on physics ideas and problems. I was not sure that I would be able to find the right person for my son. I even remember expressing my doubts to Jeffrey when we first started talking about setting up an initial appointment. I need not have worried. Jeffrey has turned out to be just the right teacher for my son. He recognized my son’s need very quickly and has adjusted his pace accordingly. Jeffrey is acting as much as a mentor and my son likes working with Jeffrey. Something else that makes it a pleasure for my son to work with Jeffrey is that Jeffrey is clearly very passionate about both physics and mathematics. His passion makes his sessions interesting as well as very useful. Jeffrey seems to have an unusual talent for explaining complex concepts in a readily understandable format. I therefore would recommend him, without reservation, for anybody needing help with mathematics and/or physics.
Amy worked with our son last summer to prepare him for Spanish 2. He took Spanish 1 his Freshman year but decided not to take it his Sophomore year. After realizing that colleges required two years of a foreign language scheduled it his Junior. Amy worked with him last summer and he has an A average and above proficiency. Highly recommend Amy if you are looking for a Spanish tutor.
