Heidi has been teaching our daughter on a weekly basis. She is a great tutor who can adapt to our daughter's needs. She is able to focus on her weaknesses and provide clear explanations. The one on one sessions allow her to spend the necessary time on every subject she covers. Our daughter not only progresses in her knowledge of the English language but she also enjoys the time she spends with Heidi. We have been recommending Heidi to our friends and other parents looking for support in English. She is a great teacher who has patience and enjoys passing on her knowledge.

Hi, my name is Heidi. I am a professionally certified elementary school teacher in MD, CT and IL and have been teaching for the past 26 years in the D.C. metro area. I have a B.A. and two M.A. degrees, in education. The last nine years of teaching in the Montgomery County Public school system has given me an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the standards-based curriculum that students are challenged with every day. Through my broad experience as a classroom teacher I have gained a sen... ... More

Shelley is a great tutor! She's very supportive and knows how to bring out the best in her students. She cares equally about your target learning objectives and the small details that make it up. She encourages, nurtures, and champions creative thinking and guides you to the next level of language mastership. I highly recommend her as a very experienced and knowledgeable English language professional.

"Ms. Shelley, Your Communication Coach"

One of the many hats I've worn in my life is that of a playwright and screenwriter. I trained professionally in New York with the legendary teacher, Sandford Meisner, and graduated from the Neighborhood Playhouse, the theater school he founded. Sandy was a master teacher and his method not only informed my writing but also the writing of playwrights like David Mamet, directors like Sydney Pollack and the acting of theater artists and film stars like JoAnne Woodward, Diane Keaton and Robert Duvall. As an undergraduate at Tulane University, I majored in theater, studied directing and ran an i ... More

"History, Reading, Writing, Study Skills... I'm Your Guy!"

In my 17 years of classroom experience, I have worked with hundreds of children with ADD/ADHD. Some methods that I have found to be effective are chunking of the content and the amount of time spent on that content, repetition of directions, a tutoring environment free of distractions, and self monitoring strategies by the student, and patience. I have also found that tapping into multiple modalities of instruction and student expression to be very effective. ... More

"PhD. All levels writing, reading AP English SAT/ACT/GRE thesis editing"

I have studied the physiology of ADHD, and keep up with the very latest research regarding the condition (see the research of Dr. Russell Barkley--the most esteemed researcher in the field for his findings). My graduate studies in counseling psychology and my work with college students that have ADHD both have contributed to my expertise in the area. I work with people that are seeking advice or 'coaching' individually since ADHD is not a "one size fits all" problem. While there are general behaviors, cognitive functioning, learning styles, issues with concentration and "executive function ... More
