"Experienced Business Professional Specializing in Math and IT"
Hi everyone! I have an MBA from the Simon School of Business University of Rochester and a Computer Science Engineering degree from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I'm new to tutoring as a 'profession' but its a skill I've honed and enjoyed over the years. As the oldest of my siblings, I've always had the opportunity and eagerness to show what I know to those who are less experienced and are on a similar path in life. My first formal tutoring experience was organized by my high school's ho... ... More

Jeff is fantastic. He is kind, humorous, extremely prompt with email responses, patient, a good teacher, and incredibly knowledgeable: He was able to teach me what the professor and textbook failed to do! I will use him for the rest of this semesterI literally thought I was going to fail Symbolic Logic and thusly screw up my GPA and be forced to drop my major (for which this is a mandatory class,) which would mean that I would not graduate on time, or be eligible for Phi Beta Kappa, etc. At this rate, I am going to ace the hardest class offered by the university! And for that, I have Jeff to thank. I highly recommend him for anyone who needs help with math and/or symbolic logic!

"Learn by Doing and Understanding"
I have noticed that the single biggest success factor for algebra 1 is practice doing lots of problems and then doing some of them again.
But if you still need (or want) some help, I will show you how to make the algebra 1 concept concrete and explain the math in plain language. I will also show you tips and techniques which will make the math as routine as the ABCs.
I have taught classroom and computer based algebra courses at the university level and I have tutored many algebra students at the university and high school level with great success. ... More

Frank covered a great deal of Physics problems with my daughter, and helped her to better understand the information. They worked for 2 hrs and she felt more confident in the subject.

My educational background is extensive. I attended the University of Delaware, where I earned three majors (physics, computer science, and cognitive science) and three minors (philosophy, mathematics, and political science). I later earned a law degree from the University of Virginia. In other words, I have spent far too many years of my life in school.
In addition to school, I've worked in multiple fields, as a computer programmer and a First Amendment lawyer. But what days I enjoy most ar... ... More

My kids were thoroughly impressed with Erik's approach. Both raved about his patience and overall understanding of how tough it can be to grasp math concepts. Erik provided down to earth tutoring on a level that they could easily understand. Both are looking forward to their next tutoring session. What more can a parent ask for? Great job Erik!!!

"I make learning math easy."
That teacher that you can't quite understand? The book that doesn't tell you enough of what you need to solve a problem? That's not me. I've been there. Late nights, coffee, office hours, the works. I was a student in the math program struggling to get my bachelor's degree. Then, I spent two more years going for my master's, meaning even longer nights, more coffee, and needing my own whiteboard. I was also a tutor for five years, and for years afterward my clients came to me to either thank m... ... More

We expanded on the areas that we went over on the previous session and continued to go over questions in a ACT practice book that I found more difficult. I feel much more confident about problems involving graphs on the test as well as other trigonometry functions.

Before reading about my background, I would like you to have an idea about my approach during sessions:
1) Discuss goals and expectations of both parents and students.
2) Discuss communication between parents and teachers in hopes of extending lines of
communication between myself and the teacher.
3) Observe student problem solving in an attempt to identify areas of difficulty as well as
