Barbara tutored my daughter in her college MicroBiology course. When my daughter first went to her, she was struggling with the course and was just about passing. Having always done very well in school, my daughter was beside herself. Her first test right after the first session, she got a 90!. Barbara took the time to show her study skills, "tricks" for learning the material, and most of all the confidence she was lacking. She met with Barbara a total of 4 sessions. This being a summer course, there was quite a bit of material to cover in a short amount of time. In the end, my daughter went from a C- to a B in the course! I was so lucky to have found Barbara and highly recommend her. She is very professional, patient, understanding of the student's needs, and very proficient in her subject area. Barbara always responded quickly to any e-maiI or phone call. I will definitely use Barbara again if there is a need. To sum it up, Barbara was "awesome"

"Physics, Biology and Math"
Hello and thank you for viewing my tutoring profile! My name is Barbara and I'm a licensed high school physics teacher with 17 years of experience tutoring students, especially those who need an alternative way to learn the material. I take what the student already knows and build on it – I find that this makes them feel comfortable and confident that they can learn the material. In the beginning, I take time to find the student’s optimal method of learning, whether it’s by the traditional ro... ... More
We were so happy & pleased to have found Sue to help our son. Sue helped him prepare for his next step in life... college. Not having much experience with writing papers in high school, Sue was able to assess our son, evaluate what type of help he needed, & taught him. My son enjoyed working with Sue, and my husband & I were pleased with what she taught our son, & her follow up with us. Sue is a very pleasant & professional tutor & I would highly recommend her for any other students in the family & our friends' children.

"For the Love of Words"
For as long as I can remember, I have been in love with words. When I first read Coleridge's poem "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" in 8th grade, I fell in love with language, the manipulation of words as a means to affect an audience. Whether we manipulate language to communicate with one another or to compose a specific piece of writing, we start with words. Through words, we make our entrance into the world; through words, we chronicle our experiences, our ideas, our understanding, and som... ... More

"Recent College Grad Looking to Give Back"
I have been helping my fellow students informally since the start of high school. After graduating from MIT I feel like I can continue to assist others with a desire to learn and excel. I understand that some, if not many, students benefit greatly from a more one-on-one learning approach and I look forward to passing on my knowledge and the study skills I have learned to the next generation.... ...
