John is excellent at encouragement and positive reinforcement. Although there was a little miscommunication about the left-knee-bend element of my swing at the beginning of the lesson, all the other techniques were easy to understand from that point forward. Whenever I had a question to clarify an element of technique, John was good at clarifying the technique with a specific answer. John had a nice balance between letting me just swing for a while and knowing when to jump in and suggest a technique correction. When I made a bad shot, he would let me know what element of my technique produced that bad shot so I could connect my lapse in technique to that specific type of bad shot. John also had a good suggestion about having "one swing thought" every time I swung. This was a useful suggestion because it kept me focused on swinging properly without giving me too many aspects of technique to focus on at once.
Laura has been working with my daughter for the past two years in Algebra I&II and Geometry. Her tutoring style is very effective at explaining complicated methods in ways that are easy to understand. She is extremely patient and truly cares about the success of the student. My daughter loves working with her and has benefited by maintaining a high GPA in math. Laura is very reliable and always willing to meet our scheduling needs. She is simply the "BEST" and I would highly recommend her as a tutor!
I am taking statistics for my BSN. I have severe math anxiety and Jeff was able to take what was total greek to me both literally and figuratively and take some of the fear away. I actually know what mean median and mode are, he is opening the door to samples, populations, deviations and errors. I am actually beginning to see practical applications to this subject and when most would have thrown their hands up in frustration asking "do I have to Draw you a Picture", Jeff simply drew me a picture that helped me understand histograms and bell curve.
