"Business, Math & Science Tutor with 2 Master's Degrees!"

Hello prospective students (and parents, spouses, or loved ones), My goal as a tutor is not just to teach you just enough to let you pass that next exam. I work with my students so that they not only know the material that we are covering, but also so that they understand the meaning of the material, the background behind it, and how to apply it in the real world. This allows for my students to handle those really difficult problems where they have to not just recite what was learned, but us... ... More

"Math, CBEST (Math), Geography"

Hello my name is Johnny, and I have over 15 years' experience as a volunteer tutor. I have tutored math and reading. My favorite subject to tutor is math such as basic math, prealgebra, and algebra because it is very applicable in our everyday life. I have a bachelor's degree in geography from Arizona State University. The reason why I love geography is because I love to travel the U.S. and Mexico and study different cultural regions. I also have passed the CBEST and am very... ... More

"Patience and Determination lead to success"

Hello. My first job was working as a student-tutor at Rio Hondo College in Whittier. After graduation I kept my job as a tutor. I tutored in Reading, English, Writing, and History. I also worked with ESL students. From there I got a job working for Montebello Unified School District, where I am still currently working. My first position was working with elementary students who were below reading level and I gave intensive instruction in phonics, vowels, and sight words. After three years I mo... ... More

I took the GMAT recently, and attempted to study for it on my own using three different study guides that were loaded with examples, practice problems, and methods. Despite my self-inflicted slavery to my studying, I did not do anywhere near as well as I had hoped I would on the Quantitative section of the test. However, within a few minutes of sitting down with John, I was learning alternative, easier ways to find the answers to problems that had plagued me from Day 1 of studying on my own. I also found myself doing a great deal of material mentally rather than writing it all out. John's teaching methods pulled me out of the black hole of complication brought about by my Kaplan study guides and showed me a simpler, more time-efficient way of finding answers without having an anxiety attack of second-guessing. He's very knowledgeable, patient, encouraging, and great at building understanding and confidence. Great tutor!

"Patient, effective tutor for your most difficult subject"

ADD is not a disease or a defect, and people with ADD are not disabled. They are often frustrated, sometimes embarrassed, and they can become depressed because they are labeled as lazy or irresponsible and their best efforts are judged "not good enough." They live in a world which expects them to act in ways which are difficult for them to manage. Coping with ADD (or ADHD) is a matter of learning habits that most people don’t have to learn, of thinking about and doing things which most people don’t have to think about or do. It's not easy, but nothing worthwhile is easy. The ... More
