Wow! Anne-Marie made a huge difference in our son's attitude toward science and helped him understand the material so much better. He definitely feels more confident and has a positive attitude - instead of hating science. She also did not charge us for the first 30 minutes - her "getting to know him" time! She found out what he enjoyed (video games!) and had him use that in his writing assignment, too. Thanks, Anne-Marie!

"Ivy League grad with "Excellent" score on NJ teaching cert. testing"

I graduated summa cum laude with a 3.95 GPA from the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English literature with both honors and distinction. The Honors status was not simply because of my G.P.A. but because I wrote an Honors thesis that was judged by the chair of the English Department to be worthy of that status. I also graduated with a 4.0 GPA from Camden County College with an Associate of Arts in communication. New Jersey rated my Praxis testing for teaching certifi... ... More

Our daughter has now been working with Alan for 2 months. They meet twice weekly for 1 hour. I can not overstate the value of personal attention to improve learning. The following outlines the benefits we've noted at this stage: -Our child's motivation to learn has improved dramatically. She demonstrates a self-imposed discipline about completing homework on the days she is not working with Alan and eagerly prepares for his arrival on session dates. -Grades have improved from "C"s and "B"s on last report card to "A"s and "B"s on current progress report. Improvement is noted in ALL subjects. Her test scores have improved dramatically. We also note that she is actually learning, not just churning out a "C" by regurgitating information. -Our child is taking pride in her work!! She is no longer dragging through school work like it is a chore. Our goals were to help our child with reading comprehension and improving math skill. It's amazing to me how focusing on a couple of subject areas has provided benefit to her in all subjects. It has also made home life a lot easier - by investing a little in tutoring, the nightly stress/struggle of homework and disappointments with poor test results are fading from memory. We have more time to enjoy each other and have a little fun!

"Making English Easy!"

I believe in the English language as a fundamental tool for the continuation and functionality of our culture. As an English teacher with years of experience teaching both gifted and remedial students, my goal is always to advance students to his or her greatest capacity by always achieving goals and then setting new and higher expectations. As a result I've had the pleasure of watching students who once needed remedial skills building in grammar, sentence structure and comprehension fall in ... ... More

My review of Ira is that he is very patient. He makes sure that you understand the material he is teaching clearly, before he moves on with new material. He is big on making sure you understand "the why" of what you are doing, which is exactly what I wanted in a tutor. I highly recommend him if you need help in statistics. I love his sense of humor which helped to ease my nervousness about learning statistics. With hard work on my part and help from Ira, I believe I will be able to pass my statistic class with a minimum grade of a "C".
