"Needle Arts and Personal Development tutor"

My love for teaching comes from a lifelong love of learning. My grandmother was a teacher and instilled in me the value of learning and growing. My joy comes from watching other people grow! The areas I specialize in are diverse. I learned needle arts and sewing at a young age and was teaching basic sewing at age 14. I can also teach knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, embroidery and other needle arts. In addition, as a life coach I can teach leadership, basic business skills, and p... ... More

I want to thank you, WyzAnt, for sending the best teacher, ever. I have never, ever had as much learning in my life as I have had since I met Theresa. I love reading more, I understand how to spell better, as well. I'm learning a lot about writing good lesson plan and how to do different things on the computer. I have learned more in 3 months than in the past 45 years of my life. If I had all this knowledge from an early age. I would be a better person now. Miss Theresa is the type of person who makes you want to go higher and higher in education. I don't want to stop learning here. She is the best teacher ever. I recommend that WyzAnt acknowledge her. Thank you very much. She is the best....

"Art, Theatre, English, Reading, Special Ed and Creativity!"

While tutoring students in reading, I have used methods as diverse as phonics, whole language, A-Beka, visual phonics, the manual alphabet, Braille and a hodge-podge of several all together. I find that when working with young children, using concrete examples and personification can be very helpful, while with older students and adults, tying reading concepts to their own lives, school experiences and workplace concerns is helpful. I try to make the reading experience about really understanding what words are, where they come from, and which words are related to other words, so that even af ... More

"Hello, I'm here to help you learn!"

I'm a Junior at Texas Tech University. So I know what it's like to cram, to study, to wonder if this math problem should even exist. I am a Plant Soil Science major who has great tricks for memorizing information. Memorizing is necessary, but being able to understand the material that is given to you is also important. Luckily I can help you with both. I made it through most of my science courses and histories with B. I can help with test anxiety and breaking bad study habits. When it comes... ... More

Heather is amazing!!! My daughter needed help with her 7th grade Algebra and Heather responded right away. She made room in her schedule for my daughter so that she could understand some concepts she was struggling with. Sage is a bit shy but felt very comfortable around Heather. She learned a lot in an hour and has a good grasp on the concepts she was struggling with in order to complete her homework. We plan on meeting with Heather regularly to help Sage with her struggles. I am also mentioned to her that I was having some problems with my college course around statistics. She welcomed the opportunity to help me too. In fact, she took the time to consult with me a bit about my issues to get a better understanding of what context I was using statistics to better help me when we meet. I highly recommend Heather to anyone that needs a bit more help understanding concepts. She is friendly, polite, genuine, and very smart! I can't thank her enough for helping us out on such quick notice!
Eileen is a wonderful tutor, full of new ideas. My son has some big math gaps, and thanks to her patience and persistence he is picking up material that seemed "too hard" for him to grasp. Thanks to her he is looking forward to the school year and showing that he CAN do math and do it well. Thank you so much to Eileen for her continued games, flash cards, and abundance of easy to read notes in helping him continue to achieve my son's math goals!!
Phoebe is the best tutor any one could ask for. She is so helpful, understanding, and patient. I needed tutoring for the TEAS test. I had previously taken the exam, but failed it. So, I decided to hire a tutor. Phoebe tutored me on Biology, Chemistry, and English because these subjects were my weakest points. She made it easy for me to understand each subject. I recently took the Teas test and PASSED!! I wouldn't have been able to do this without Phoebe. I couldn't ask for a better tutor. She is super smart and knows what she is doing. She is always prepared and ready to go. I would recommend her in a heartbeat.
When I asked, the response was "I can't imagine a question she could not answer." Her high level of credibility and knowledge coupled with her ability to quickly engage, assess and tailor her content and delivery make her an ideal tutor. Based on several months of progress with pre-calculus and SAT prep, I would recommend her without hesitation.
