Sheila was very helpful to my son, who struggled with Chemistry. She had a calm and organized approach to the subject matter, making it seem less daunting. In a short period of time, she helped bring my son's grade up two levels. I would highly recommend her.

"Patient, Friendly, Effective Science and Math Tutor 7-12"
I thoroughly enjoy working with students - it's especially heart-warming to help a student who is struggling and perhaps discouraged - to watch them light up as they understand their work, regain their skills, and once again look forward to going to class!
I'm a patient, friendly, and very effective tutor for science and math students in grades 7-12, with skills and instincts honed over many years of teaching and tutoring - and so I sincerely look forward to helping you and your child. All ... ... More
Faye was very helpful and conscientious in providing my son the instruction he needed. She took alot of thought into his lesson plan and I think she will help him to strengthen and practice his math solving skills.

I worked in industry for 11 years prior to teaching. I have also owned my own retail and Internet businesses. I have raised two children (both two very different types of students) and have worked with young children as well. I enjoy kids and math a lot! We continue to see improvement with Alexander and he gets used to school schedules again.
Lucia continued working with my son after the summer break, getting back into the study habits was difficult for him, but Lucia continues to maintain a constant level of assertiveness to gain compliance.
Lucia worked well with my son who can at times be less than attentive. Her methods kept him focused and he enjoyed the session. She was firm in her demeanor and he made good progress for the first lesson. We intend to continue with Lucia for his tutoring needs.
Week 2 - Seeing improvement as the relationship continues to develop between Lucia and my son. While this process is not quick, I think Lucia is up to the task of dealing with a little boy who does not always focus well. Her methodology seems to be working well.
Week 3 - Continue to see incremental improvements, Lucia works hard with my son, sometimes he is not always as attentive as he needs to be. It is obvious that Lucia cares about the progress made and is interested in his progress.
week 4 - Lucia continues to explore alternative methods and techniques to apply to my son's tutoring. We are seeing positive results for the continued efforts and Lucia's willingness to approach the situation with different methods. So far so good!
Week 5 - Lucia has used various techniques to break up the session into segments that my son can focus on, the results are improvements in his confidence and he is now sounding out words and not guessing.

I have worked with many students diagnosed with ADD or ADHD. I try to involve each student as thoroughly as possible in the learning process, paying particular attention to the emotions of the student with whom I am working. By providing a structured and predictable learning environment I help my students to achieve greater success when learning.
For students with ADD or ADHD I also break down large tasks and pieces of information into more manageable sections so that they do not become overwhelmed. By breaking tasks down, students are able to achieve greater confidence and allev ... More
Robert has come to our house now two times. Both times he has spent the whole time getting down to teaching. No wasted time. He incorporates good examples to do with the task at hand. He is very soft spoken. Easy for my daughter to follow. Connects well with her and uses examples and even changed to meet her needs. I feel that Robert offers an excellent level of ability and we would recommend him.

"Math and Physics tutor"
Physics is all around us, embedded in everything we do. Learning physics is learning about our world and how it works. My approach is conceptual in nature. I use practical, real world examples to bring light to and understanding of physics concepts. While physics does have math in it (since the universe uses math to explain itself to us), math is only a tool to be used in forming our understanding. I am certified to teach high school physics by the State of Connecticut and have taught physics... ... More
