"College Student Specializing in Undergraduate & High School Math"
Hi, I'm Aaron. I'm in my third year at the University of Maryland, College Park, where I am a math major. I attended Montgomery Blair High School, where I was fortunate to be able to take many advanced math and physics courses not normally offered in high school through the math/science magnet program there. I was always good at math, but Blair was where my interest was truly sparked. The fantastic teachers I had there inspired me to pursue my own interests in mathematics outside of what was ... ... More

"Math (Elementary - Linear Algebra Math Levels), Physics"
My passion for teaching comes from a lifelong love for learning. As a magnum cum laude graduate of physics, I know that hard work, discipline, and dedication to learning and education can pay off. My academic achievements include the Dean's List, Society of Physics Students Vice President (Local School Chapter), and the opportunity to present my senior project on a national platform. As a recent graduate I am able to reach the modern student not only on the college level but on an elementary ... ... More

Eric began teaching me from the How to Crack the GRE, Princeton Review book. We specifically focused on the Quantitative Reasoning section since that was the one I wanted to focus on. I really like how he listens to the issues I was having with the GRE and gives me advice on how to overcome these issues. The best advice he gave me during our first session was to read the problems carefully to prevent easy mistakes and practice often. Looking forward to our next session.

Dimitri helped me to understand advanced concepts in my college business class, and easily apply them to answer homework and quiz questions. Additionally, he provided tips and ideas for writing a complete and well-structured paper. As I am an international student, I usually feel challenged with the English language and the comprehension of the various concepts. Dimitri encouraged me to successfully employ all my skills and boosted my confidence. So far, I have aced my quiz and got an excellent review for my paper proposal. He even made himself available, over the phone, for last minute questions.
I highly recommend Dimitri for his knowledge of the subject and straightforward way of explaining everything, but most of all for his responsiveness, patience and welcoming and amicable personality.

He broke things down for me and helped me to stay calm via my anxiety I began to have. He reassured me that this wouldn't be as bad as I was making it and indeed he's correct.

My child's Alg2/Trig AP grade needed to be raised to the next grade level (something like 6-10%...hard to say precisely as there were always ungraded/unrecorded items outstanding) with only 6 weeks remaining in school year. Thanks to John, we achieved that goal with room to spare. John's approach is methodical -- he pinpoints the specific areas where your child needs help, and provides that. Sometimes teachers/textbooks focus more on the mechanics of problem solving without enough time/attention given to the underlying concepts (especially in fast-moving advanced/AP/HP classes). My child generally understood how to solve problems mechanically (and could often do so); however, without a firm foundational grasp, it was difficult to apply that knowledge to more complicated/abstract situations. This was especially true when translating word problems into soluble equations. John provided the missing foundational knowledge, which in turn allowed the mechanical problem-solving to be more successfully (and quickly) applied. John was also very flexible in meeting our scheduling needs. We only had a small number of test opportunities remaining in the year, so preferred to have sessions the night before to maximize "freshness"; unfortunately, tests were often announced only a day or two in advance. With short notice, John always did his best to find some amount of time meet our needs. I wasn't looking for some Dead Poets wannabe to put the Joy of Math into my child; I needed someone who could help bring my child's grade up significantly in a short time. John did just that.
